Hosted by Dalhousie University, the WLN receives its core funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research – Institute of Indigenous Peoples’ Health (CIHR-IIPH), under a program called the Network Environments for Indigenous Health Research (NEIHR) and receives leadership and direction from an Indigenous Governing Circle. For a detailed project background, please visit http://wabanaki-labradornetwork.ca/.Job SummaryReporting to the Nominated Principal Investigator, the Network Coordinator will support the planning and implementation of Network activities and ensure that activities are carried out in an organized and timely manner, as well as within budget.Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and manage the efficient and effective operations of the Indigenous Health Research Support Fund, which will are awardee to Indigenous communities to support community-led Indigenous health research.
  • Support the Indigenous Health Research Ethics Mentor in developing and launching capacity building initiatives for research ethics processes within communities and academic and governmental organizations, as required.
  • Coordinate funding calls and reviews for research awards and workshop funding for Indigenous-led research projects and capacity-building workshops.
  • Support the Network’s various Working Committees, the Indigenous Governing Circle, the Core Research Team, and the Operating Team, including, but is not limited to, scheduling meetings, taking meeting minutes, etc.
  • Support the development and implementation of the Network’s communication strategy which includes, but is not limited to, managing social media, creation of posters, presentations, etc.
  • Participate in National NEIHR Coordinating Centre (NCC) meetings and activities ,as required. Coordinate evaluation activities of the Network, including surveys, annual reports, and annual retreats.
NoteEvening and weekend work may be required on an exceptional basis to meet operational requirements.The successful applicant may work in-person on campus, primarily remotely, or perform a hybrid of the two as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements.Dalhousie’s vaccine mandate has been suspended at this time, and employees no longer need to provide proof of full vaccination. However, health and safety risks to our community will continue to be monitored and a vaccine mandate may be reinstated if necessary.QualificationsUndergraduate degree in public health, public administration, business administration, social sciences or a health-related field, combined with lived experience and/or in-depth knowledge related to working in Indigenous communities in Atlantic Canada. Master’s degree is preferred. Demonstrated experience working with Indigenous communities, governments and/or organizations, as well as experience with network and project administration, coordination and logistics is essential. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and have the ability to work effectively and efficiently to meet required deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills and attention to detail are required.Additional InformationDalhousie University supports a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
