IT constantly strives to meet the ever-changing climate and challenges of subsea projects.Reporting to the Survey Manager – Installations & Repairs, IT is seeking to fill the position of full-time permanent Offshore Surveyor. This position is based in Halifax and requires offshore international travel. The position provides an excellent working environment, opportunity for growth and learning, a complete benefits package as well as an attractive compensation package.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Acquire all necessary project documentation required to plan assigned survey activities from various stakeholders;
  • Responsible for completing accurate installation, setup and maintenance of navigation acquisition systems and subsystems on board the vessel along with associated cables and antennas;
  • Operation of surface and subsurface navigation systems during projects including logging all data;
  • Responsible for ordering DGPS corrections on board the vessel, in the absence of a Senior Surveyor;
  • Provide Bridge Officers with informative navigation display (WinFrog/NaviPac/4DNav/Makai) and accurately respond to questions of a geographic nature;
  • Record events required to prepare reports, charts and as-laid RPLs;
  • Process all navigation and cable data to be used for reports;
  • Produce AutoCAD drawings (as-builts), excel spreadsheets, route position lists, daily reports and various other required reporting upon request;
  • Survey experience in a cable install and repair environment preferred.
Required Skills:
  • University degree preferably in Marine Geomatics / Survey Engineering or related degree and a minimum 2-6 years experience in an industry related field;
  • Recent work history must include a minimum of 2 - 6 years related offshore hydrographic / construction survey experience, including on large contracts;
  • Ability to draft, read, comprehend and interpret technical specifications;
  • Ability to draft clear, complete and concise reporting documents;
  • Excellent communication skills required, both written and verbal;
  • Strong organizational, time-management and analytical skills;
  • MS Office experience required;
  • Winfrog/NaviPac/4DNav/Makai and AutoCAD experience considered an asset.
