For more information visit our website at www.adastra.ca..About the job * We are currently seeking an Operations Manager in our Halifax office. The ideal candidate will be comfortable overseeing the operations of Ad Astra in various departments. The Operations Manager will provide leadership and vision to the organization, while managing relationships with related parties and providing input on processes and efficiencies.----Primary Duties and Responsibilities * The Operations Manager will perform a range of duties:Operations
  • Oversee day-to-day operations locally and contribute to management overseas
  • Manage office staff in Canada, including hiring and training as necessary
  • Help develop long term plans on company’s strategic direction
  • Familiarize with Ad Astra’s proprietary student management software (ACS)
  • Seat on Ad Astra’s Management Team
Marketing
  • Work with marketing team to support and contribute to creative vision
  • Review monthly campaign analytics
  • Authorize budgets
Staff and Teams
  • Communication with sales team (consultants) regarding student accounts (placements, applications, invoices)
  • Relationship management with staff and consultants
  • Support consultants on difficult school placements
  • Integrate closely with international team members
  • Develop and implement strategies to keep employees and teams motivated
Schools and Programs
  • Relationship management with schools and programs worldwide
  • Communicate with schools and programs about students and student accounts
  • Review and approve contracts with schools worldwide
  • Handle communication related to student invoices, scholarships, discounts, refunds, etc.
Financial Operations
  • General understanding of financial reporting and budgets
  • Management of commission payment system to consultants and conveyance of commission related information
  • Work closely with Controller to inform on students related to accounts payable / accounts receivable
  • Management of third-party relationships such as bank accounts, POS processor, Western Union
  • Administrating the company group benefits plan
----Qualifications
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a similar operational management role
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Master’s degree in related field (MBA) or similar an asset
  • Spanish language skills an asset

  • Strong accuracy, attention to detail, investigative, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently in accomplishing tasks, finding solutions, and improving processes
  • Strong understanding of computer systems and technology, including Microsoft Office
  • General knowledge of accounting and/or financial statements
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in accomplishing tasks or improving processes
  • Strong organizational and time management ability to help meet deadlines
---Working Environment
  • The Operations Manager will work from our Halifax office
  • 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday, with lieu time for occasional evenings/weekends, as required
  • Required paid international travel annually
