To do this, we need leaders at all levels of the organization who embrace a challenge and believe in their ability to make a difference.About Our OpportunityWorking in accordance with the terms of the Interprovincial Reciprocal Billing Agreement, you will be responsible for processing claims for Nova Scotia residents who have received insured in-patient and out-patient services in other Canadian Provinces and Territories.Primary AccountabilitiesMore specifically, in this position you will be investigating and processing claims and claim adjustments on behalf of residents and hospitals in other provinces and territories, as well as ensuring proper investigation and adjudication of all claims and maintaining appropriate records. In addition, you will provide detailed reports to the Manager/Director of Insured Services relating to this information.Qualifications and ExperienceTo be successful within this position, you will have four years of related experience in a computerized accounting environment or an equivalent combination of training and experience.In addition to the above, you will have a working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, bookkeeping procedures and the ability to adhere to strict month end and fiscal year end deadlines. Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, and Internet Explorer is mandatory. You will be an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal and organizational skills. An aptitude for data entry is required to maintain demands of the role as well as a strong customer service focus which includes the ability to deal diplomatically with telephone/e-mail inquiries.You must be able to work effectively independently and in a team environment and exercise initiative while demonstrating sound judgment when solving problems. Confidentiality is mandatory in all claim information processes as well as accuracy and timing to ensure we pay all accounts appropriately and refund requests are complete (adjustments) for services billed in error or at improper billing rates.Knowledge of the Corporate Financial Management System (CFMS/SAP) will be considered an asset.We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.EquivalencyAn equivalent combination of training, education and experience will be considered.
