Position DetailsPosition InformationPosition Title Part-Time Academic: Nursing Research and Evidence-Informed Practice (NURS2760) Winter 2023Posting Number PTAP1669PDepartment/Unit NursingLocation HalifaxJob Summary & Key ResponsibilitiesThis 3-credit course examines the methods used to generate, evaluate, and apply knowledge in nursing and health care focusing on the basic processes of quantitative and qualitative research. The emphasis is on analysis, synthesis, and evaluation of research and the implications for theory and evidence-informed nursing practice. Collaboration with interprofessional research teams is described.FORMAT: online asynchronous deliveryThis appointment runs from January 1, 2023 until April 30, 2023. The part-time academic instructor reports directly to the Associate Director, Undergraduate Studies Academic.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Development of teaching and learning activities related to course-specific topic
  • Teach course content
  • Assessment and evaluation of student learning
  • Use of Brightspace for course delivery
  • Respond to student queries about coursework
  • Attend initial instruction with Instructional Learning Online services re: Brightspace
  • Participate in semester 3 course discussions within the program
  • Develop and administer examinations
  • Submission of grades
  • Follow up with students as necessary
Qualifications/Requirements of PositionCandidates must hold a graduate degree in Nursing, or related field, with a strong background in nursing research and evidence-informed nursing practice. Prior teaching experience an asset. PhD preferred.Experience with teaching in an online environment is an asset. All lecturers hired to teach online will be supported by Dalhousie to develop and deliver their courses from the Centre for Learning and Teaching (clt@dal.ca) and Academic Technology Services (support@dal.ca).
