Position DetailsPosition InformationPosition Title Part-Time Academic (POLI 3565.03) - Jan - Apr 23Posting Number PTAP1649PDepartment/Unit Political ScienceLocation HalifaxJob Summary & Key ResponsibilitiesThis part-time academic will be required to teach POLI 3565.03, Contemporary Security Studies during Winter (January – April 2023), is currently scheduled in-person (subject to change to online synchronous), Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1605-1725.Course description: The course examines developments in the theory and practice of international security since the end of the Cold War. The first part reviews the concept of security and the main theoretical approaches that inform the contemporary security debate. The second part analyzes some of the key contemporary issues in world politics and their relation with international security. Topics include: Military Security, Terrorism, Human Security, Environmental Security, Migration, Health and Security.The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, and test preparation. The position reports to the Chair of the Department.Qualifications/Requirements of PositionPreference will be given to applicants with a PhD, or nearly completed PhD in Political Science.
