Visit us today and check out www.novascotia.com to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.About the OpportunityAs a member of the Medical Affairs portfolio, the Physician Recruitment Consultant reports to the Manager of Physician Recruitment and works collaboratively with provincial and federal stakeholders who are involved in the licensing, immigration and relocating processes of an international medical graduate.The Physician Recruitment Consultant will ensure that International Medical Graduates (IMG) are able to navigate pathways for licensure that are available to them, provide information on career opportunities and incentives, as well as provide ongoing support and encouragement to select Nova Scotia as their place of practice. The Physician Recruitment Consultant will also identify and maintain contact with Nova Scotians completing their medical residencies abroad who may wish to return home. The focus of this role will be to work with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the College of Family Physicians of Canada, and provincial immigration to ensure that International Medical Graduates are supported and able to navigate all processes involved in establishing practice in Nova Scotia.The incumbent ensures the development of a collaborative and strategic approach to recruitment and retention, resource planning and the privileging and credentialing functions. The Physician Recruitment Consultant leads the development of these activities in a manner consistent with the overall strategic direction of the organization. Valuing teamwork, the coordinator works with the Medical Affairs team and local leadership to establish and maintain positive professional relationships with physicians, community and government partners.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant and related field required
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ recent and relevant recruitment experience required (An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for this position)
  • Recent and relevant sales and marketing experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS), Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and College of Family Physicians of Canada considered an asset
  • General knowledge of the federal and provincial legislation governing medical services and working knowledge of the development process for Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules & Regulations
  • Superior marketing and public relations skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally to present practice opportunities in a positive manner
  • Exhibit a high energy level, and demonstrate the ability to work as a team, with flexibility in work habits to schedule and meet the needs of the medical staff, students and residents
  • Ability to multi-task, planning and prioritizing a large volume of detail-oriented work in accordance with changing deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience in initiating and managing multiple projects
  • Extensive experience in the application of spreadsheets and database development management and analysis
  • Demonstrated positive approach to challenging situations
  • Ability to synthesize discussions into position opportunity descriptions
  • Knowledge of recruitment, HR planning processes, and human resource management which includes interview and shortlisting experience
  • Superior interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Highly sensitive to the nature of this position which requires judgment, tact, creativity, diplomacy, discretion and confidentiality
  • Must be self-directed with substantial initiative and creativity expected
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Ability to effectively organize heavy workloads
  • Ability to foster and promote excellent relationships and enhance inter-portfolio communication
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills required
  • Demonstrated skills in financial management, project management, research writing and analysis
  • Strong computer technology skills including, but not limited to, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
