Job Description

Job Title: Program Manager, Child & YouthReports To: General Manager, Child & YouthPosition Status: Full-TimeCompensation: $45,000 - $50,000Start Date: April 15, 2023Location: Community YThe YMCA is a place where everyone belongs. You will be part of a team that provides children, youth, and adults of all ages a sense of belonging in their community.The OpportunityThis position serves a critical role in establishing and executing operational best practices across children & youth serving functions in delivery of quality, impactful, and sustainable programming in keeping with operational objectives. It is responsible for the oversight and programming expertise in youth advocacy, leadership, partnership, and empowerment objectives.Responsibilities

  • Implement Youth Development strategy and program outcomes
  • Develop, promote, implement, and evaluate quality youth programming offered at our YMCA (One Y) and/or in partnership with local community, associations/organizations (i.e. leadership, day camps, wellness, recreation, community support, child minding etc.)
  • Plan and implement activities for youth supporting the integration of the Community Y and JWL YMCA
  • Communicate with youth to determine their needs and interests
  • Communicate with organizations that represent youth to determine needs and interests of youth
  • Ensure a variety of sport, recreation, cultural and other programs are planned and implemented across the YMCA
  • Promote and administer youth programming
  • Provide monthly and yearly reports about youth programs and opportunities
  • Identify and execute opportunities to enhance and sustain high level quality programming as a Center of Excellence for Child and Youth
  • Ensure program delivery is in keeping with safety and quality standards, specifically ensuring alignment with YMCA standards such as Play to Learn, High Five, Serving All Members (SAM), child protection requirements, and insurance requirements
  • Develop and garner Youth Leadership advocacy initiatives with focus on youth empowerment, awareness, and mentorship. Foster positive, collaborative partnerships with external agencies, schools, and associations in efforts to provide enhanced, meaningful, responsive programming opportunities
Qualifications & Skills
  • Completion of a post-secondary program in Recreation, Outdoor Education, Healthy Child Development, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience, preferably in youth programming, outreach, or day camp environment
  • Proven track record in programming excellence and dedication to safety
  • Current First Aid & CPR (Level C)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in fundraising or non-profit sector is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and ability to establish rapport with clients/participants
  • Demonstrated ability to meet multiple, competing deadlines and priorities
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours required
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
