Our 6,000 faculty and staff foster a vibrant, purpose-driven community, that celebrated 200 years of academic excellence in 2018.Job SummaryDalhousie Financial Services strives to provide the highest quality financial services and information to ensure the effective stewardship of University assets to the benefit of students and scholarly activities. Financial Services is a core service unit of the University, providing services in areas of financial accounting, budgeting, procurement and risk management, cash management, financial systems and policies, and the University’s endowment, pension and short term investment programs. Reporting to the Director, Financial Systems & Processes, the Project & Portfolio Coordinator coordinates activities and provides support to the Director, Managers, and staff in the execution of the projects including creating presentations and communications, updating project plans, and maintaining status reports. This position supports the business analysis and project management processes, including changes to processes and data, and tracking and planning of each.Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and plan activities required in the execution of the projects initiated by Financial Services. Initiate presentations and communications to ensure details are provided in a consistent manner to all clients.
  • Manage small projects or phases of larger projects managed within Financial Services; keep stakeholders informed and ensure target deadlines are met.
  • Ensure shared project sites are always up to date and available for Financial Services and clients based on roles and access.
  • Identify and address any change management issues or concerns that stem from the changes being implemented.
  • Maintain project plans, implementation plans, project documentation and status reports.
  • Undertake business process analysis of the Financial Services systems team: gather and document user requirements, research appropriate solutions and define scope with the aim for improvement.
NoteThe successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.Dalhousie’s vaccine mandate has been suspended at this time, and employees no longer need to provide proof of full vaccination. However, health and safety risks to our community will continue to be monitored and a vaccine mandate may be reinstated if necessary.QualificationsUndergraduate Degree, preferably in business administration and/or information management, plus three to five years’ experience, preferably in a university environment (or an equivalent combination of training and experience) is required. Certification in Business Analytics and/or Project Management would be considered an asset. Exposure or certification in Continuous Process Improvement (CSI) frameworks such as Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) or Lean Six Sigma would be considered an asset. Demonstrated experience in business analysis and project management is required.
