We offer full-time permanent staff a challenging and progressive environment with a competitive compensation and group benefits package.We are currently seeking a Proposal Writer to join our team based in our Halifax, NS office.Start Date: May, 2021Type of Position: Full Time, PermanentClose Date: Tuesday, May 4, 2021Position Summary:Working with the Practice Innovation & Business Development Lawyer, the Proposal Writer is responsible for leading and drafting the Firm's responses to requests for proposals ("RFPs"), requests for qualifications and requests for information for the provision of legal services. Working with the Director of Marketing, the Proposal Writer ensures appropriate presentation of the Firm brand in written materials and responses. This individual also conducts research and analysis of new business development opportunities.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Collaborates with lawyers, management and Practice Innovation and Business Development Lawyer to write and produce professionally-written business proposals, and responses to requests for proposals, qualifications or information from clients and potential clients, including scheduling kick-off meetings, content development and editing, creating visuals and charts, managing timelines, final document preparation and delivery, and follow-up;Analyzes Firm market position on a continual basis, monitoring competition and opportunities for new business on relevant websites; maintains awareness of clients, potential clients and other topics, as directed; identifies target clients and works with Practice Innovation and Business Development Lawyer on strategies to attract and retain new business;Maintains database of responses submitted, including tracking success rate of responses to requests for proposals; pursues opportunities for feedback on proposals and provides feedback to lead lawyer(s) and senior management;Assists the Practice Innovation & Business Development Lawyer in internal and external promotion of practice innovation initiatives, develops preliminary analyses of financial data for pricing structures and hourly rate proposals, researches software applications, supports the development of process maps and checklists, and assists in coordinating practice innovation projects and initiatives.Maintains database of content, relevant documents and files;Works with lawyers, as requested, to identify, assess and develop new business opportunities with existing and potential clients; andOther duties as assigned.Candidate Profile:Relevant university degree and/or professional experience, demonstrating strong business acumen.Experience in a professional services environment would be considered an asset but not required.Business writing experience.Resourcefulness and research skills.Experience in analyzing new business opportunities and formulating plans to pursue.Ability to work flexible hours as required.Superior verbal and written communication skills.Strong editing and proofreading skills.
