Reporting jointly to the Manager, Recruitment and Retention and to the Academic HR Advisor (Recruitment & Immigration), the Recruitment Advisor, Candidate Outreach will expand the capacity of the Recruitment function across Talent Management (staff recruitment) and Academic Staff Relations (academic recruitment). The Advisor will strengthen Dalhousie’s internal capabilities related to proactive recruitment resulting in improved service delivery for hiring teams.Key Responsibilities

  • Leverage recruitment tools to proactively identify and communicate with prospective candidates. The identification of candidates from equity-deserving groups as identified in Dalhousie’s Employment Equity Policy will be a consistent priority in this research.
  • Advise hiring managers and search committee chairs on best practices for candidate attraction including job posting language and external advertising venue selection; liaise with external advertising vendors as needed.
  • Acts as the primary contact for third party advertising vendor relationships. Negotiate advertising package rates, coordinate contract development, manage vendor relationship, oversee payment processing.
  • Promote Dalhousie’s brand and reputation as an employer of choice to prospective candidates; constructing communication tools with content that supports this strategy. Represent Dalhousie at industry events and career fairs.
  • Facilitate the full search process for select staff positions including offer and negotiations, as needed. Consult with HR colleagues on complex and/or unique circumstances.
  • Collaborate with HR recruitment colleagues on common issues relating to equity, diversity inclusion, and accessibility systems and processes and other matters to improve consistency in client service delivery.
NoteThe successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.Dalhousie’s vaccine mandate has been suspended at this time, and employees no longer need to provide proof of full vaccination. However, health and safety risks to our community will continue to be monitored and a vaccine mandate may be reinstated if necessary.Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field, plus three to five years’ related experience in human resource management activities with a focus on recruitment (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Excellent written communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly and consistently with tact and diplomacy with a broad range of diverse contacts, including senior leaders.
  • Excellent research skills.
  • Ability to professionally manage and deliver priorities and manage multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Strong client service mindset.
  • Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and sensitivity to confidential information that has legal and policy implications.
  • Process-focused and systems-focused mindset.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office suite.
Assets
  • Experience in a unionized environment.
