Our 6,000 faculty and staff foster a vibrant, purpose-driven community, that celebrated 200 years of academic excellence in 2018.Job SummaryThe Faculty of Open Learning and Career Development develops and delivers innovative and diverse educational programs for more than 5000 students annually to help them navigate the changing world of learning and work. Reporting to the Director, Enrollment, Student Services, and Advising, the Registration Coordinator is responsible for administrating student registrations, managing the registration process, processing payments, gathering financial data, and updating student registration records.Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and process program applications, duly checking requirements and language scores and admitting those who satisfy admission criteria.
  • Administer online and on-site placement and the Dalhousie English test, configure online test, register candidates, invigilate on-site tests.
  • Keep on-going and accurate records of new students for use by the Program Manager and English Language Studies (ELS) team for staffing, projections, etc.
  • Apply appropriate course fee for each participant and issue payment receipts when registration is not completed online. Monitor upcoming courses to ensure receipt of payment by deadlines.
  • Inform students about the range of ELS course offerings, and advise students on implications for admission to Dalhousie, outline application process and steps for prospective students.
  • Provide instructions and troubleshooting support to students and provide backup for other Registration Coordinators and Senior Registration Coordinator within the unit as required.
NoteDue to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.Dalhousie’s vaccine mandate has been suspended at this time, and employees no longer need to provide proof of full vaccination. However, health and safety risks to our community will continue to be monitored and a vaccine mandate may be reinstated if necessary.Required Qualifications
  • Business/Office Administration program with three to five years’ related experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Written and spoken fluency in Chinese.
  • Proven capability managing multiple tasks simultaneously with attention to detail, time management and organization.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and work independently, as well as in a team environment is essential.
Assets
  • Experience with Dalhousie systems (Banner and/or Destiny).
