Your role:CBC Nova Scotia seeks a reporter-editor assigned to Information Morning (Mainland).The successful candidate will contribute community based storytelling to the program with a focus on compelling story presentation and characters, making sure to include voices and perspectives from the many communities in our listening area.The reporter editor will pitch stories, guests and treatments and - under the direction of the program producer - bring those stories to the audience on a regular basis.The reporter editor will also collaborate with other media lines to ensure stories serve the widest possible audience.The reporter-editor will appear regularly on Information Morning and may stand in for the program host.All work will be governed by CBC Journalistic Standards and Practices.What you bring:

Your profile:
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • An inclusive thinker, able to work independently and as part of a team to bring the best to the audience.
  • Interviewing skills that demonstrate a curious mind and ability to listen.
  • Experience in booking interview guests, developing lines of questioning, writing focused introductions and preparing and writing tape segments.
  • Ability to travel within Nova Scotia on assignment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime, including very early mornings. You should expect to be on the air and often from location starting at 5:55 am.
  • Strong presentation skills for broadcast. You are comfortable reporting live.
  • Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or a related field.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s licence as well as a driving record that meets the minimum requirements of CBC/Radio-Canadas insurance company.
  • Knowledge and experience of digital storytelling is an asset.
