Our successes and accomplishments are driven by embodying and upholding values, which include creativity, integrity, inclusiveness and relevance.Do you think you have the ability and drive to keep up with this exciting, ever-changing industry Whether it be in front of the camera, on air, online or behind the scenes, you would be joining a team that thrives on making connections and telling stories that are important to Canadians.Your roleAs a Reporter/Editor for Radio-Canada Acadie based in Halifax, your primary objective will be to perform reporting and editorial assignments related to the gathering, writing and presentation of program material mainly for our radio and digital platforms, but also occasionally for television.You will have demonstrated success in your role by gathering and reporting information from various sources, conducting an analysis of the facts and information gathered, drawing conclusions or raising issues requiring further investigation, and contributing ideas, written scripts and program content. You will also, as required, critically edit material written by others, present information and/or analysis on air in a variety of formats and perform other production or administrative tasks associated with the smooth functioning of the newsroom, program unit or station. Your work will be governed by CBC/Radio-Canada’s journalistic and broadcasting policy and protocols.We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • University education (or equivalent) in journalism, communications or a related field
  • Three years’ directly related experience that includes proven ability in the field and knowledge of TV/radio broadcasting
  • Relevant experience filing stories and delivering live hits
  • Strong interviewing, writing and storytelling skills
  • Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada’s mandate and its Journalistic Standards and Practices
  • Knowledge of social, political, cultural and economic life in Atlantic Canada
  • Knowledge of issues facing Nova Scotia’s French-speaking community
  • Excellent command of French (spoken and written) and good knowledge of English (spoken and written)
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Strong news sense, editorial judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to be resourceful and take initiative
  • Interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate your day-to-day work so as to meet tight deadlines; ability to work well under pressure
  • Creative, enterprising and inquisitive approach to fact- and newsgathering
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours
