The Lab houses several active research studies related to public service motivation such as a qualitative interview-based study investigating the changes in motivations of public servants over the course of their career. A second quantitative questionnaire-based study is measuring the relationships between public service motivation, uncertainty tolerance, job satisfaction, and burnout among public servants. Further studies will focus on measuring public service motivation among other professionals, for instance health professionals.Job SummaryReporting to the Principal Investigator, the Research Coordinator will work as part of a research team and will be responsible for project coordination and administration responsibilities for the Lab. The Research Coordinator will be a key liaison for the research projects, and will interact with researchers and study participants on a regular basis.Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the projects adhere to ethical requirements and prepare associated documentation.
  • Serve as principal administrative liaison for the studies.
  • Recruit and coordinate research participants.
  • Develop and maintain record keeping systems and procedures, including managing research files and data.
  • Schedule and organize meetings and research related events.
  • Coordinate submissions to granting agencies, conferences, or publication outlets.
NoteOccasional evening and weekend work may be required to meet operational requirements.The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.Dalhousie’s vaccine mandate has been suspended at this time, and employees no longer need to provide proof of full vaccination. However, health and safety risks to our community will continue to be monitored and a vaccine mandate may be reinstated if necessary.QualificationsGraduate degree, either completed or in progress, within a Social Sciences discipline with experience in academic research involving humans and research ethics requirements, is required. Must work well as part of a team and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. French language skills would be an asset. Familiarity and comfort in working with various research analytical software, including qualitative software (e.g. NVivo) and basic quantitative software (e.g. SPSS) would be an asset.Additional InformationDalhousie University supports a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
