If you thrive on a challenge and enjoy connecting with people, we’re looking for you!Mercer’s Retirement Consulting Team is seeking an Actuarial Analyst for the Halifax office.What Can You ExpectAs an Actuarial Analyst in the Wealth practice, you will work as a part of a team of consultants, analysts and administrators within the local Halifax office to provide high quality service to a portfolio of clients under varying pension legislation, demonstrating outstanding customer service in all dealings with client contacts. You also can expect to:

• Perform retirement actuarial valuations including validation of data, analysis of the plan’s gains and losses, analysis of the plan’s asset performance, and preparation of the valuation report and related forms
• Production of year-end accounting disclosure and projection of expenses for plans under various financial reporting standards including IFRS, CPA and FAS
• Complete benefit calculations, review plan documents, produce employee benefit statements and prepare annual government forms
• Participation in the design and pricing of client’s employee pension plans, including cash flow modelling, demographic projections and evaluation of liabilities within an asset-liability framework
• Production of various experience studies to refine demographic and financial assumptions used in actuarial valuations
• Designing and implementing strategies to manage defined benefit pension plan volatility, including funding strategy, plan design and risk transfer solutions

What You Need To Have

• Have written, or are planning on writing, actuarial exams to attain ACIA/FCIA designations
• Strong analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative, and working knowledge of Excel
• Experience in data analysis and presentation design
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Intellectual curiosity, seeking opportunities to develop new skills
• Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work under tight deadlines and changing client needs
• Superior organizational skills and strong attention to detail
• Ability to be a team player, providing support to other colleagues and projects when needed

What Makes You Stand Out

• Graduated with a Bachelors degree in Actuarial Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance or related field by end of 2022
• Previous work-related experience obtained during internships or co-op work terms
• Strong preference will be given to candidates demonstrating progress towards the ACIA/FCIA designation
