IMP is able to achieve success through this teamwork mindset, which is why at IMP, you are not defined by your role.The Stores Controller will report to the IMP Aerospace and Defence location near the Halifax International Airport.What You Will Do:

  • Complete shipping and receiving documentation and verify and trace incoming and outgoing parts, supplies and material.
  • Packages items for outgoing shipments and affix identifying information and shipping instructions.
  • Receive, sort and issue/route incoming parts and supplies
  • Process incoming requisitions and distribute parts/supplies.
  • Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices or other documents, record shortages and reject damaged goods.
  • Counts stock, completes stocktaking investigations for evaluation and reviews and recommends stock adjustments, stock levels for approval.
  • Moves material through operations as directed by Management/Lead Hand for items manufactured, repaired or overhauled by the company.
  • Researches and collects data information, inputs data and produces various reports, including computer generated reports.
  • Operates various sub-stores and cribs e.g. Tool Cribs, Drawing Cribs. Ensures most current documentation i.e. Drawings, RES’s, etc. are available for Production’s use.
  • Sweeps and cleans warehouse, sub-stores and adjacent areas, ensuring order and cleanliness in the workplace is of a high standard
  • Prepares material transaction vouchers and other Stores logistics documents. Writes memoranda and messages on material requirements, completes approved amendments to publications, and carries out filing, record keeping and detailed register entries.
  • Sets-up cutting tools/equipment and cut/distributes material for Production and Manufacturing Operations.
  • Under the direction of Management, attends meetings and liaises with program managers and DND representatives on various assigned responsibilities.
  • Operates truck, forklifts and other machinery/equipment used in the handling of material.
  • Assists and provides on-job-training to other personnel in the Stores Controller trade.
  • Performs other related duties as directed by Management.
What You Will Bring:
  • Minimum education level of Grade 10 or its equivalent and related training and experience.
  • At least two years experience in inventory control, preferably in a warehouse or storeroom
  • Have the physical ability to perform the role.
  • Knowledge of inventory control methods, manuals and computerized record keeping systems and procedures
  • Ability to work independently and to make independent judgments.
  • Skill in operating a computer with its related software relevant to the position.
  • Basic knowledge of WHMIS regulations and other regulations, as they relate to shipping.
  • Have a current provincial driver’s license.
  • Have acceptable attendance and performance records.
  • Incumbents in this Classification may be required to operate equipment including warehouse aids, hand bench cutting tools and various vehicles.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies. Continually focusing on your individual safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your work and to fully comply with all Federal Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement, Lean & 5S activities in your area.
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances.
