Sunday School Educator Employment OutlineJob Title: Sunday School Educator To work directly with the Sunday School Coordinator and Minister of St. Andrew’s United to educate children on the values and practices of the United Church’s beliefs. This will be done through the implementation of the Sunday School Curriculum and active participation within the Church Community.The Sunday School Educator is expected to arrive at St. Andrews at approximately 10:00 am. The program schedule is as follows:10:00 – 10:20Set up classroom for activities – often this includes tabletop activities for the children to begin the session with, a small activity that is curriculum-based (approximately this activity is 15-20 minutes maximum)10:20 – 10:30Enter the Congregation and greet families that are attending10:30 – 10:45Participate within the service schedule and be present and visual for children to observe10:45Collect children from families and exit the service – depending on the number of attendees for Sunday School an area will be provided for children to gather before exit10:45 -11:45 (approximately)Encourage children to participate in classroom activities and lesson (curriculum regarding lesson ideas will be provided)11:45 – 12:00Greet parents for pick up and clean and sanitize classroomResponsibilities: - Plan activities that correspond with the provided curriculum- Communicate with parents/guardians about current and future events/activities within the Sunday School Program- Be punctual and reliable within the program- Evaluate where the children’s individual needs may be and adjust to these- Be comfortable with working within a variety of ages- Ensure delivery of curriculum, set up of the program, cleaning practices are followed- Be available for communication with parents/guardians/staff/volunteers outside of program hours (often through email)Requirements: - Background in Childhood Education/Early Childhood Education or Sunday School Experience is preferred but not required- An open mind to concepts that focus on acceptance and community inclusionConfidentiality: The Sunday School Educator may be a party to personal or pastoral information. We accept everyone who chooses to attend and participate within our community.Compensation/Compensation Information: The Sunday School Educator will be compensated on an hourly basis. This is to ensure that if the Church is holding a meeting that may require the Educator to stay later than the expected two hours they are compensated. If the educator finished early, they will be compensated for the two hours, however, the educator will be subject to monthly reviews of their performance to ensure that the program is being implemented properly. This will be performed by the coordinator and will be given 2 weeks notice. If the educator is required for care longer than the two hours, they will be notified at least one week in advance and if needed the coordinator will step in for coverage, however, it is expected that they can be present.The Sunday School Educator will be compensated 15$ per hour and paid on the 15th of each month.
