Our 6,000 faculty and staff foster a vibrant, purpose-driven community, that celebrated 200 years of academic excellence in 2018.Job SummaryDalhousie Athletics and Recreation takes a holistic approach to enhancing the Dalhousian experience by creating and sharing ways to engage and connect students through physical activity and wellness, to contribute to student success. Reporting to the Associate Director, Facilities and Operations, Supervisor, Facilities and Operations’ primary focus of this position is to supervise the operations of our varsity home games and other events . The position will also prepare the facility for all communications and event coordination in the delivery of varsity home games.Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating and performance management of event student and casual staff.
  • Manage product selection, inventory control process, delivery and pick-up of concessions supplies and maintain an accurate inventory of products. Manage liquor licenses and organize product pick-up from Dalhousie’s Bar Services.
  • Adhere to and stay up to date on all AUS and U SPORTS requirements for all home varsity games pertaining to facility set up and field of play regulations.
  • Supervise 40-50 part-time student and casual staff. Assist with facilities reservations and staff supervision in all areas of facility operations as needed.
  • Oversee the ordering and distribution of office supplies for the Department and perform other duties as required.
NoteDue to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.Dalhousie’s vaccine mandate has been suspended at this time, and employees no longer need to provide proof of full vaccination. However, health and safety risks to our community will continue to be monitored and a vaccine mandate may be reinstated if necessary.QualificationsOffice/Business Administration Diploma with approximately one to three years’ related experience (or an equivalent combination of training and experience) is required. Must have demonstrated excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills. Proven ability to exercise initiative and work independently as well as in a team environment is essential. § Ability to lead, coach, and supervise student staff is key. Smart Serve or related alcohol service certification is an asset. Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail are required.
