Job PostingHalifax Regional Municipality (HRM) is inviting applications for the permanent, full time position of Supply Assistant II in the Procurement division of Finance & Asset Management. The work location is the Mackintosh West General Storeroom, 3825 Mackintosh Street, Halifax. Applicants are encouraged to self-identify on their electronic application.Under the direction of the Storeroom Supervisor, the Supply Assistant II is primarily responsible for issuing, receiving, shipping and order put-away of stocked materials ordered for municipal stores and central receiving for clients in a safe, efficient manner using various material handling equipment and PC/Windows based Inventory Control system. Through knowledge and use of various PC applications and verbal communication the Supply Assistant II provides a high level of customer service providing materials and information requested, or needed by clients. The Supply Assistant II is responsible for security, access control and general housekeeping duties within the designated controlled storage areas, maintaining a neat, orderly and safe work environment. The Supply Assistant II may handle various inventory assets and commodities including specialized service material, hazardous materials, general goods, bulk items and surplus assets. The Supply Assistant II may have to physically free-lift unassisted, materials up to 40 kilos.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Issue items to customers and processes necessary SAP paperwork and data input.
  • Receive items for warehouse and puts items away on shelves. Process necessary SAP paperwork and computer processing.
  • Manage all Material Reservations including back-orders.
  • Conduct Physical counts accurately and timely as directed.
  • Perform routine housekeeping to maintain all storage areas in a safe and orderly manner.
  • Using proper safety procedures and required protective equipment, operate forklift, pallet jack, picking carts, cutting tools etc.
  • Working with Buyers, prepare materials and associated transactions and paperwork for return to suppliers as required.
  • Utilizing skills and knowledge developed through training and experience, make recommendations to Stores Supervisor for improvements etc and actively in department/ inter-departmental meetings.
  • Physical labour moving materials and equipment as required.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience:
  • Minimum Grade 12
  • Minimum 1 year job related experience with a Computerized Inventory Management/ ERP system, as well as basic PC applications (Word-processing, Spreadsheet, email, Internet)
Technical /Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of SAP Inventory transactions.
  • Knowledge of Fleet Focus Goods Issue, Goods Receipt, Return Delivery, Bin Location Maintenance, Stock Requirements, Material Movements, Material Search.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive parts and parts manuals.
  • Knowledge of related manual processes and paperwork supporting inventory transactions.
  • Knowledge of common PC business applications such as spreadsheets, word processing.
  • WHMIS Certification.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and control practices.
  • Knowledge of HRM’s Procurement Policy.
  • Knowledge of HRM Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of HRM Administrative Policies.
  • Basic knowledge of Goods Issue, Goods Receipt, Return Delivery, Bin Location Maintenance, Stock Requirements, Material Movements listing/searching, Material searching/query and user specific screen customizing
  • Basic knowledge of related manual processes and paperwork supporting inventory transactions
  • Basic knowledge of common PC business applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, email, Internet/ Intranet
  • Proven demonstrated abilities in a multi-tasked, Windows-based computer environment. Beginner to intermediate user level using common business applications such as Word Processing, Spreadsheet, Email, Web Browser software.
  • Valid Nova Scotia Drivers License
