Job Description

Job DescriptionWe are looking for makers, scientists or engineers with a passion for inspiring the next generation of innovators in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM). In this role you will deliver curriculum to local students ages 5-16 at schools in your local community.Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering classes face to face or online
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment
  • Providing feedback on curriculum to assist in refinement and improvement of class experience
The Right Fit
  • Has a passion for STEAM, making and being creative
  • Has an interest in sharing this passion with young people across a range of subjects
  • Excellent communicator and comfortable presenting to large audiences
  • Organised, reliable and willing to take initiative
  • Has an interest and willingness to learn about manufacturing tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, wood working tools and electronics tools
Necessary Skills + Qualifications (as many as possible:

  • Maker skills such as 3D printing, wood working, Arduino or soldering

  • Willing to work from different locations
  • Part time: 10-20 hours
  • Flexibility of schedule including Saturdays and Sundays
Support: Training for this position will be provided.About UsZen Maker Lab is an innovative engineering and education lab that designs programs and products for kids and youth. Here at The Shipyards, the community can find a great place where getting exposure to and developing skills in STEAM doesn’t need to be a step-by-step ladder. Here, kids’ projects and ideas have the possibility to come to life. Some of the subject areas that kids can learn are Robotics, VR/AR, coding, 3D design and 3D printing, electronics, fabrication (stickers), animation, illustration, and game development, just to name a few.Location: Our After School Programs run at different schools in Metro HalifaxQuick Apply
