Everywhere.Currently, we are ramping up our efforts for our AJISS program, Canada’s largest in-service support program working in partnership with the Canadian Armed Forces, specifically the Royal Canadian Navy.The AOPS (Arctic Offshore Patrol Ship) JSS (Joint Support Ship) In Service Support program will allow Thales to leverage its Canadian expertise in project management, systems engineering and integrated logistics support to lead the development of a new Canadian supply chain that will offer comprehensive in-service support for all systems and equipment of these fleets over their operational lifetime, ensuring they are mission-ready, on time, every time, from coast to coast to coast.To support our development, we are seeking a Technical Specialist-Mechanical in Halifax, NS to join our team. The Technical Specialist-Mechanical provides technical services and advice for designated ship repair and ship maintenance activities within the Technical Specialists area of expertise and authorisation (comprising Hull, Mechanical, Condition Based Monitoring and Verify &Validate specialists). Key Responsibilities

• Provide support to various internal stakeholders by conducting a range of technical investigations and providing considered solutions to solve complex issues in the support of the fleet;
• Liaising with OEMs and ship operators to optimize existing maintenance schedules;
• Initiating and contributing to engineering change proposals;
• Reviewing technical documentation and initiating changes;
• Overseeing technical service activities for designated vessels and/or systems, to ensure materiel readiness objectives for the Platforms are being achieved;
• Developing a good working relationship within Thales and the customers organisation to ensure coordination and rapid resolution of issues; and
• Preparing reports such as pre and post refit condition assessments, technical investigations, test & trials, OPDEF close-outs, installation set-to-work and Physical Condition Audits.

Key Qualifications

• Post-Secondary Technical Qualification;
• Previous experience working within the military or a defence contract and project;
• Experience in at least one of the following functions: Marine Engineering Technician, Material Technician, Plumbing and Heating Technician or Refrigeration and Mechanical Technician;
• Provincial Certificate of Qualification or Canadian Red Seal or Military QL5 certification in an approved Military Trade.
