Job Description

EngineeringHalifax, NS11517BRAbout the roleAs a member of our Lockheed Martin Canada (LMC) team, the successful candidate contributes to our key projects as follows:

  • Work independently within Department of National Defence (DND) Naval Fleet Schools (NFS) providing system, operational, and training support for the use of the Combat Management System 330 (CMS330) simulators (trainers) called the Synthetic Environment Advanced Combat Operator Trainer (SEACOT) and the Synthetic Environment Advanced Warfare Operations and Leadership Facility (SEAWOLF).
  • Support instructors by determining how to incorporate SEACOT/SEAWOLF into training plans, with a focus on system and classroom configurations; and how to operate the trainers to support training. This includes providing training to new instructors on the operation of the various trainers and their various simulation modules.
  • As a Trainer Support Specialist, you will liaise between DND and LMC staff to report faults and identify areas for enhancement. The LM Canada staff with which you will liaise consists of System Administrators, Naval Tactics Team Training Staff (NTTTS), software developers, and support services.
Trainer Support Specialist responsibilities:
  • Opening, flash up, shut down and securing of the SEACOT/SEAWOLF for daily training
  • Configure the SEACOT/SEAWOLF for daily training
  • Support the Navy by providing instructors with training integration support
  • Develop and deliver “Train the Trainer” modules for SEACOT, SEAWOLF, and SAFSIM instructors and operators, including both standing lessons, and for software version changes
  • Provide training to new instructors and refresher training to existing instructors on the use of the SEACOT/SEAWOLF and its simulation modules
  • Provide cross-training to NTTTS in trainer support duties in order to develop redundant LMC support capacity
  • Log SEACOT/SEAWOLF simulation defects and areas for enhancement; provide reports and track the status of the suggested changes
  • Recommend technology insertions (hardware and software) that will make the SEACOT/SEAWOLF classrooms more effective for their intended purposes
  • Synchronize and maintain SEACOT and SEAWOLF schedules with NFSs, Fleet Schedules, and other primary users, in balance with In Service Support (ISS) and LMC requirements
  • Assist NTTTS with Tactical Control Room support on an as required basis
  • Liaise with LM Canada’s on-site Configuration Management (CM) and Data Management (DM) as required
  • Conduct tours and provide demonstrations of the SEACOT/SEAWOLF as tasked by DND
  • Identify (with the aid of instructors, students, and NTTTS) and report discrepancies between application contents and operational systems functionality
  • Performing build check and regression testing on newly installed builds
  • Working with minimum supervision and following common company processes
  • Reporting of infractions of Trainer Security Regulations.
What you bring to the roleBasic Qualifications & Desired skills
  • Diploma from a recognized school or military/civilian technical or operational training with 3-5 years of professional experience
  • Recent experience or demonstrated capacity to instruct in a classroom environment
  • Detailed knowledge of trainers and CMS 330
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Project
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Experience with course scheduling, authoring training materials, training conduct, and trainers
  • Strong IT knowledge of computers, peripherals and networking would be an asset
  • Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) operational / technical experience with CMS 330 would be an asset
  • Experience with Canadian Forces Individual Training and Education System (CFITES) would be an asset
  • Language is English Essential - French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Greek would be an asset.
