Job Description

Retail Tire TechnicianWe currently have a Seasonal full-time position available for a Retail Tire Tech in at our Halifax Location. We are looking for candidates who are mechanically inclined and driven to be a productive member of the team.Qualifications include:

  • High School Diploma or competent level of experience in the field
  • Valid driver’s license and must be insurable (no major offences)**
  • Must have a positive attitude and an ability to prioritize multiple objectives.
  • Ability to work independently and with others;
  • Must have the ability to do the physical requirements of the job
  • Experience working on tires is preferred and mechanical ability and aptitude is considered to be an asset.
  • Preference given to graduates of the Pre-employment Program at NBCC
Main Job Duties include: * Remove and install Passenger & Light Truck tires.
  • Stud winter tires and perform tire repairs using the proper process when requested.
  • Complete oil changes and light mechanical jobs, such as topping up fluids, installing windshield wipers.
  • Ensure work orders and Inspection sheets are filled in completely and properly. Include pertinent info such as plate #, mileage, work to be performed or found, results of damages found in visual inspection, recording torque values or attaching torque slips, recording tire pressures and tread depths, any problems incurred while completing the work order.
  • Follow through with customers (beginning to end). Make sure vehicle is returned to customer without grease marks and that all customer requests found on the work orders are completed.
  • Ensure equipment is properly inspected and maintained. Ensure this has been documented on the proper maintenance records, such as the calibration of the torque wrenches, verification of air gauge to master and maintenance of inflation chamber, Vehicle Hoists.
  • Tidy work area, including service truck and ensure general cleanliness of shop.
  • Other duties as requested.
