At this time, the Halifax Port Authority (“HPA”) requires a Trade AnalystReporting to the Senior Manager, Trade & Trade Analytics, the Trade Analyst uses expertise in data analysis to help the Trade Department drive trade growth at the Port of Halifax. Duties include using data to analyse historical performance and customer and industry trends, generating statistical reports, and responding to customer data inquiries. This position requires an individual who is proficient in communications, business development, as well as data analysis and will help the port authority develop our business through the strategic use of data and statistics. This individual will be a data user rather than a database programmer.The successful candidate must have a university degree in Business, Engineering, Economics or related field with a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ related practical experience. They must be an advanced user of Excel and other MS Office applications, and data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL. Experience in supply chain management and project management considered as an asset. Data Analytics certification or any professional designation be considered as an asset. The successful candidate must have excellent critical thinking and analytical skills in both marketing and finance. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with both internal and external customers and a capability to identify opportunities to create value for the business. Must have the ability to work in a team environment and interact with management and stakeholders. Ability to work independently and resourcefully, as well as creatively research and implement new solutions. The successful candidate will be subject to successfully completing a physical examination, must pass and maintain a Criminal Record Check and must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Marine Transportation Security Clearance (MTSC). The Halifax Port Authority has a policy requiring all individuals to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Exemptions may be considered for individuals who cannot be fully vaccinated due to a certified medical contradiction, religion, or any other prohibited ground of discrimination as defined in the Canadian Human Rights Act.
