Job Description

Subsidiary: Miller Paving LimitedSummary:Cumberland Paving and Contracting is part of Miller Paving Atlantic, based in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Cumberland Paving and Construction provides the public and private sectors with road construction, paving, road and structure rehabilitation, engineering construction, aggregate- based materials, highway operations and maintenance services.As a Traffic Control Person, You Will:

  • Control movement of vehicular traffic through construction projects
  • Discuss traffic routing plans, and type and location of control points with superior visibility to oncoming traffic
  • Distribute traffic control signs and markers along site in designated pattern
  • Direct movement of traffic through site, using sign, hand, and flag signals
  • Warn construction workers when approaching vehicle fails to heed signals to prevent accident and injury to workers
  • Inform drivers of detour routes through construction sites using signage
  • Record licence number of traffic control violators for police
What Youll Bring:
  • Traffic control training course is an asset
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
  • Physical requirements may include, frequent standing which may be required for long periods of time, frequent lifting and/or moving up to five (5) Kilograms and occasional lifting and/or moving up to eleven (11) Kilograms
  • Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable Provincial and municipal licensing requirements
  • Willingness to work days, evenings and nights which may include rotational shifts
  • Will be required to be on call and accept work shifts when the need arises
  • Must have a valid Provincial Traffic/Signalpersons Certificate
  • Must be able to travel with the crew throughout the local area for the work duration
