Job Description

About the Role:The Construct Training Coordinator will support the delivery of an 8-week skilled trades training program designed to help vulnerable youth and adults at risk of homelessness secure well-paying trades careers. Launched by Blue Door, Construct has trained over 600 individuals, with 80% finding jobs within 6 months and 75% reporting better housing stability. In this role, you will:
  • Recruit participants and provide daily check-ins, coaching, and support during the program.
  • Deliver in-class and hands-on training (e.g., employability skills, certifications like WHMIS), track participant progress, and connect them to wraparound supports (e.g., mental health resources).
  • Coordinate operational tasks, such as arranging job-site experiences with local employers and unions.
  • Running the day-to-day social components of the program. This includes running the daily participant training, performance tracking and check-ins.
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing and selecting program candidates and run an effective orientation with each cohort.
  • Work closely alongside the on-site staff to address any underlying issues including conflict resolution and culture. Respond, assess and remedy any conflicts that arise amongst participants.
  • Provide mental health support, daily check-ins, coaching, and assisting in ensuring the health and safety of every individual in the program. Connecting participants with existing community supports and services.
  • Participating in presentations to community partners/outreach to present the Construct program as well as attend job fairs/trades shows, etc.
  • Conduct one-on-one check ins with program trainees to ensure engagement and success within the program.
  • Facilitate informal counselling to promote independence and build healthy partnerships for success.
  • Support individuals with career planning, employment searches, and employment skill development.
  • Coordinate with program partners to secure employment opportunities for participants.
Education and Skills Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in a Human Services or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
  • Experience in program coordination, training, or working with vulnerable populations
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with a passion for helping others succeed
  • Ability to convey complex information in an understandable way
  • Extensive knowledge of various teaching methods
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Self-directed with the ability to organize, plan, prioritize and multi-task
  • Ability to analyze info, problem solve and make good decisions
  • Detail-oriented
