Job Description

Training SupervisorSOUTHLAND Transportation is currently seeking a part-time Training Supervisor. The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and possess superior leadership skills in the training and development of our professional drivers. The ideal candidate must be able to communicate with tact and diplomacy in confidential matters. A high attention to detail, exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills, and a focus on the continuous improvement of safe driving skills and customer service are key to success in this role. The Training Supervisor reports directly to the Operations Manager.We offer competitive wages, professional growth, and work-life balance.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • File and prepare information packages for new trainees
  • Provide class 2 school bus training to applicants
  • Incident investigations, file management, and reporting
  • Perform daily classroom sessions for new trainees
  • Company road tests
  • Bi-annual road tests
  • Hours of Service
  • Interview prospective School Bus Driver trainees
  • Manage and submit training and trainer reports
  • Familiarize prospective employees with SOUTHLAND policies
  • Maintain precise and up-to-date paperwork and time keeping
  • Conduct pre-employment D&A tests
  • Schedule and monitor daily duties of Training Officers
  • Assist with local School Bus Roadeo, Safety Banquet, First Ride Program and any meetings that promote safe driving
Knowledge and Skills Required:
  • Class 2 driver’s license with B endorsement
  • Knowledge of Highway Traffic Act and emergency procedures
  • Completion of a Nova Scotia Driver Instructor Training Course preferred
  • Previous driver training experience
  • Previous experience in a school bus operation
  • Excellent driving skills and habits; clean driver’s abstract
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verball)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Public speaking and presentation skills
  • Post-secondary education and/or training in leadership or management considered an asset
  • Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) busing-related safety legislation
  • Ability to supervise a team of Driver Trainers
Working ConditionsThis is a part-time position. Typical hours are 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM during the school year, with additional hours based on operational needs. Summer hours will vary, including up to 8-hour days. The ideal candidate is a school bus driver fulfilling trainer duties in-between a regular school bus run.Job Types: Part-time, PermanentPart-time hours: 20-25 per weekSalary: $22.80-$24.49 per hourBenefits:
