This department is a perfect fit for those that want to be part of the future of public education in the province by supporting student learning in a progressive and responsive policy environment.The Student Services and Equity Branch is dedicated to collaborating across the Department to build a Nova Scotian educational system that is inclusive, equitable, culturally responsive and a safe learning environment for all learners.About Our OpportunityReporting to the Director of Student Services, the Tuition Support Program Reviewer is responsible to review the applications submitted by parents/guardians for a funding unit to provide financial support for student attendance at a designation special education private school (DSEPS) through the Tuition Support Program (TSP), in accordance with regulations established by the Minister. To review applications from funded students to determine supplement grant entitlement amount, in accordance with regulations established by the Minister. The regulations are established under Sections 43-67 of the Governor in Council Education Act Regulations.Qualifications and ExperienceAs the successful candidate you will have a master’s degree in education, psychology, speech, and language pathology or equivalent. You will also possess recognized professional qualifications related to the education of students with disabilities and special needs in the public-school system.Experience is required in working with Regional Centres for Education/CSAP staff and families in the areas of disabilities, well-being, human rights, equity, and accessibility.You work well independently, and in team environments incorporating concepts of equity, diversity, and inclusive practice to all areas of your work and will support your colleagues to do the same. You can build productive relationships with non-governmental and governmental members (both internally and externally). When dealing with colleagues, you exercise tact, diplomacy, and sound judgment.You are proficient using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point), have strong interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy while balancing priorities.We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using on or more of the following tools: oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.Additional InformationPlease note this is a 2 - year Part time opportunity from date of hire.Pay Grade: PR 20Salary Range: $3,387.99 - $3,989.08 HourlyEmployment Equity Statement:Our goal is to be a diverse workforce that is representative, at all job levels, of the citizens we serve.
