The Museum is a valuable historical, cultural and educational institution. It is the largest site in Nova Scotia that collects and interprets various elements of Nova Scotia’s marine history. Visitors are introduced to the age of steamships, local small craft, the Royal Canadian and Merchant Navies, World War II convoys and The Battle of the Atlantic, the Halifax Explosion of 1917, and Nova Scotia’s role in the aftermath of the Titanic disaster.We are seeking a Visitor Experience Facilitator (Clerk 3) who will work closely with and under the supervision of the Curator of Education and Visitor Experience. The Visitor Experience Facilitator supports all aspects of the museum front line operations, providing day-to-day leadership and guidance to the large Visitor Experience Team (VET) (Clerk 2s, volunteers and interns).They are responsible to carry out daily senior responsibilities related to cash handling (access to safe and keys) and security. They support hiring and recruitment processes, support supervision of the VET staff, coordinate and facilitate staff training and program development, and assist with performance management feedback.The Visitor Experience Facilitator oversees the scheduling of VET staff and liaise with tour operators and school groups on museum bookings and partnerships, Point of Sale transactions and the collection of statistical information from visitors. They provide communications and administrative support; coordinate program scheduling and set up; manage the care of multi-media equipment; coordinate animal care and support public events as needed.This position reports to the Curator of Education and Visitor Experience.Primary AccountabilitiesMain Areas of work:
