In joining the YMCA of Greater Halifax/Dartmouth you will become part of a dedicated network of individuals with great passion for providing a holistic support to the communities in which we serve.The OpportunityAs a Wellness Coach, you play a vital role with direct member support within our fitness facility. This position supports achievement of operational goals through enhanced member experience, engagement, and retention.Responsibilities include

• Provide group and individual orientations
• Periodic checks and supervision of the track
• Maintain a clean and well-organized weight and cardio floor (cleaning protocols for COVID will be upheld)
• Provide a safe culture for YMCA members and staff through proper usage of fitness centre equipment and proper gym etiquette.
• Upholding all YMCA policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Supervision of the weight floor willing to give corrective feedback, coaching tips and support to members as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

• 1-2 years’ experience working in the Fitness Industry
• Certified YMCA Wellness Coach; NSFA Resistance Leader; Group Fitness certification in Strength with personal experience on the weight floor or equivalent
• Strong customer service/ sales skills, with demonstrated ability to build relationships and establish rapport with clients
• Bilingual in French, Arabic, etc. is an asset
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills
• Self-motivated, with strong attention to detail
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Flexibility to work irregular hours is required
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

• Proof of valid First Aid and CPR training

• Employees will be required to attend YMCA Child Protection Training
