Employment Opportunity: Writing and Digital Content CoordinatorEstablished in 1789, Kings College is Canadas oldest chartered university and is associated with Dalhousie University. Kings is a community where students, faculty, alumni, and staff work to bring greater understanding, creativity, and compassion to the world.Reporting to the Associate Director, Communications, the Writing and Digital Content Coordinator supports the universitys goal to build and strengthen Kings reputation through institutional storytelling and digital platform programming. They will lead the development of social media content as it is planned each week by the Associate Director, Communications (ADC) in weekly team social media meetings. Meetings include members of the Registrars communication team, including their Manager of Digital Marketing (MDM).In accordance with Kings Editorial Style Guide and Canadian Press Style Guide, they will be responsible for drafting copy for the University of Kings College social media channels and proofreading content for web, email, some print. In consultation with the ADC and MDM, the Writing and Digital Content Coordinator will optimize social media copy for different platforms with the aid of account tagging, hashtags, and tracked links as appropriate as well as identify and share images for social media posts.The successful candidate will draft multi-week social media content plans for writing workshops, future students webinar series, schedule social media posts in Hootsuite and develop story frames for pre-planned Instagram and Facebook story content. They will monitor social media channels and news for news items that might require schedule changes and flagging these to colleagues.The Writing and Digital Content Coordinator also develops stories and news items for ukings.ca on an ongoing basis and provides other writing/copyediting and digital content support as required. They will also source photos to accompany stories and coordinate any required photo-video releases; support the development of short-form video and photo content for social media; and draft copy for web pages. They will perform any other duties assigned by the Registrar.This is a full-time, one-year (renewable) contract position which is expected to commence as soon as possible. Remote Work and Flex Hours are available, subject to the approval of department head.The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors degree in a related field, and equivalent work experience.They must have exceptional writing ability and the ability to modify tone for different audiences, basic knowledge of Canva, Photoshop and/or Lightroom, experience writing for social media and attention to detail and judgment. Knowledge of platform analytics for primary social media, experience with Hootsuite or other social media scheduling platform and knowledge or willingness to learn optimal calls to action on primary social media platforms are desired.Closing Date: August 3, 2022Salary will be commensurate with level of education and experience.
