Employment Opportunity: Youth Partnership CoordinatorLocation: Halifax, NSSalary Range: $45,500.00 per yearEmployment Term: Contract October–March 31, 2023 (possibility of renewal), Full time hours (35 hours/ week), Varied Shifts (Days, Nights, Weekends)Reports To: Executive DirectorGeneral Description: Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre is centrally located in the urban Indigenous community of Halifax and is looking for One (1) Youth Partnership Coordinator (YPC). The YPC is responsible for managing staff who work for the youth program, which provides cultural and social programing for indigenous Youth. The YPC position creates and maintains all partnerships and is responsible for ensuring the overall youth program fulfils funding requirements. This position is required to work varied shifts (days, evenings, weekends) based on programming.Key Accountabilities: - Plan, implement schedule of events and activities for regular programming and events- Outreach-to build partnerships with local organizations both Indigenous and non-indigenous- Outreach- promote, plan, assist in delivery of workshops in other communities and schools- Work collaboratively with different MNFC organizational departments- Arrange and facilitate Youth Council meetings- Work various shifts (weekdays, evenings, weekends)- Plan and organize cultural, and employment & training workshops/ outings for all aged youth groups (junior/ senior)- Create and follow program budgets and cashflows- Ensure staff are using and maintaining the Database- Attends monthly meeting with evaluator- Plan and attend community networking information sessions- Recruitment and develop of a cross-cultural youth council- Complete monthly work plans in a timely manner- Complete intakes, reporting and filing- Write proposals for funding opportunities- Ensure all activities and workshops are meeting funding agreement deadlines- Manage and supervise youth centre staff, providing them with training and evaluation- Engage with all the youth by providing a hands-on approach, supervision and serve as a positive role model while working with youth ages 9-30 years old- Provide a safe space for all youth- Network with parents and community members to provide updates and program schedule- Plan and purchase all meals for the youth programs- Organize staff certificate training needed to work with at risk youth and keep track of recertification expire dates.- May perform other related duties as assigned.Qualifications: - College diploma in Child and Youth, or Social Services- An acceptable amount of combined education and experience (2-5 years) working with youth and program administration will be accepted- 4 years experience working in a supervisory or managerial role is an asset- CPR First Aid Training (current)- Understanding of cultural protocols, and ceremony is an asset- Must be bondable (Vulnerable Sector Check & Child Abuse Registrar)- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, clean driver’s abstract, and proof of valid insurance is required- NS Food Handlers Certification- Must have reliable transportation- Indigenous Ancestry is an asset, must self-identify*****We are seeking someone who is already engaged in Indigenous Community and possess extensive knowledge of Indigenous Culture to be able to actively engage Urban Indigenous Youth in their own culture. *****Application Deadline: Posting Until FilledDisclaimer: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job.
