Job Description

EDGE Project Mentor, Bridgewater, Nova ScotiaThis position is located in Bridgewater, Nova ScotiaUnder the direction of MetroWorks Employment Association Management, the EDGE Project Mentor will be a leader in providing support to youth in developing their employability skills and attachment to the labour market. The Project Mentor will create an open and welcoming environment that engages youth and makes them feel respected, supported, and optimistic about their future. This will be a full-time position, 37.5hrs per week (8:30am - 4:30 Monday to Friday) onsite at the Dawson Centre in Bridgewater. Occasional after-hours work may be required depending on the needs of project participants.QualificationsIndividuals considered for this position must demonstrate a strong commitment to working with youth and have a combination of education and work experience that validates their ability to meet project expectations and guidelines. Ideally staff hired for the project will either have, be in the process of receiving, or be eligible for the Certified Career Development Practitioner designation from the Nova Scotia Career Development Association. A University degree along with related work experience is a must. A valid drivers license, access to a reliable vehicle, and a clean criminal record check are also requirements.Key attributes for the role· Good knowledge of community organizations, service providers, and referral agencies on the South Shore of Nova Scotia· Ability to access and effectively use information and communications technology;· Adherence to inclusionary practice, ethical decision making, and respect for diversity· Solid understanding of NS Labour Market Information and its applications· Working knowledge of career development theory and applications· Ability to define and manage career and personal development goals and transition· Solid understanding of assessment processes, tools and resources· Working knowledge of employment/career related services, programs and interventions· Commitment to professional development and career self-management· Knowledge of motivational interviewing techniques· Good understanding of Youth Learning Principles and program evaluation concepts· Understanding of Department of Community Services (ESIA) policies and supportsDirect service provisions· Conduct youth client needs assessment; identify barriers to employment; develop plan to address barriers; monitor and evaluate plan; adjust and provide follow-up and support· Provide direct participant support to assist youth with service navigation· Ability to design, organize and implement group session workshops with diverse client groups· Facilitate group learning sessions leading to enhanced employment related knowledge and skill acquisition; tailor activities towards meeting specific career-life planning needs of clients; evaluate results and outcomes· Facilitate job search activities· Meet with project stakeholders including DCS staff to access supports and services· Complete reports· Assist the Employment Support Specialist with project based activities as required.Administrative Duties· Keep accurate records and have these records available for review as required· Maintain up-to-date information in LaMPSS, including creating and closing interventions and participant management· Complete project activity reports as required· Purchase items needed for individual and group based activities, submit receipts to the accounting department· Meet with MetroWorks management and project stakeholders as required· Maintain proper documentation regarding mileage claims and variances in hours worked.· Maintain classroom environment ensuring it is comfortable and inviting for youthInterested candidates should send a cover letter and resume to careers@mymetroworks.caPosting will close November 6, 2022 at 11:59 pmJob Type: Full-timeSalary: $25.00-$25.67 per yearQuick Apply
