To learn more about Good Shepherd, visit our website at www.goodshepherdcentres.caThis opportunity is with our Good Shepherd - Youth Services - Notre DameHow You Will Make an ImpactYouth Services provides support to homeless youth ages 16-21 as well as parenting teen moms and their children. Staff members support youth to reach personal goals and to have a satisfying and meaningful life in the community. In this role you will work to make a difference in the lives of Youth living at Youth Services. Services to clients include assessment, planning, housing, crisis prevention and intervention, supportive counseling, education, advocacy, social/recreational programming, life skills teaching i.e.: cooking and linkages with other community services.Primary case management and community development skills acquired through a post-secondary education in social services such as Child and Youth Worker. Some experience working with Youth would be helpful. Knowledge of and experience working in residential treatment for Children under the Ministry Guidelines are a plus.What You #39;ll Bring to Our Team

  • The successful candidate must be available to work all Youth Services.
  • Knowledge of child development
  • Excellent communication, team building, negotiating and problem-solving skills
  • Some knowledge of community resources for families
  • Fluency in French and/or a language in addition to English is an asset
  • Observe all Good Shepherd health and safety rules.
Hiring Criteria - the following criteria is established by Canada Summer Job: This temporary full-time position is funded by Service Canada for youth between the ages of 15 to 30 years of age.
  • Applicants may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as they were 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
  • As per the Summer Canada Jobs Program criteria:
    • International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
    • Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.
