Inclusive Living Supervisor (RPN)Non-Union, 2 year contract - 37.5 hours per weekLocation: Hamilton, ONRygiel Supports for Community Living is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals in the community who have a developmental disability, as well as other varying abilities. Our goal is to ensure that people with developmental disabilities are fully supported to participate in their communities.POSITION SUMMARYThe Inclusive Living Supervisor #39;s primary focus is to foster an inclusive, supportive environment that enhances the well-being of the individuals served. This role centers on coordinating and optimizing the delivery of services within Inclusive Living, ensuring that staff are effectively scheduled to provide the best possible care. The Supervisor also plays a crucial role in overseeing the direct support staff, emphasizing the health and safety of both the individuals served and the team. While focusing on these supports, the Supervisor is also responsible for the financial stewardship of the program. This includes managing budgets, overseeing expenses, and ensuring efficient resource allocation to support the program #39;s operational needs. Working under the guidance of the Inclusive Living Manager, the Supervisor ensures that all activities comply with applicable legislation, funder requirements, and organizational policies and procedures, thereby maintaining high standards of service and financial integrity. The Inclusive Living Supervisor will work in a manner which effectively models and reinforces RYGIEL’s established Vision, Mission, Values, attitudes and standards of support. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 5-7 years RPN experience.
• Current Criminal Reference Check - vulnerable sector
• Current active registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, entitled to practice without restrictions.
• College Diploma or Bachelor #39;s degree in human services or a related discipline
• Training and/or certification in CPI (Crisis Prevention), Conflict Management, Trauma Counselling, Case Management asset.
• Minimum of 3 - 5 years of related experience in direct care including experience with individuals with developmental disabilities (e.g., autism spectrum); experience with implementation of behavioral protocols and treatment plans preferred; previous supervisory experience an asset.
• Minimum 2 years supervisory experience in a unionized setting in the DS sector, and a solid understanding of QAM (Quality Assurance Measures).
• Working knowledge of administering a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Knowledge of behavioural, developmental services and medical needs (ostomy, feed tubes).
• Proficiency with technology including but not limited to computers including MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and other software programs needed to produce documents, reports, databases, presentations and communication vehicles for staff training and development.

WORKING HOURSamp; WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Emergency on-call weekend rotation (this position is also “on-call” for emergency issues Monday 9am to Friday 5pm)
• Moderate- to fast-paced office environment with tight deadlines and multiple priorities.
• Extensive computer and telephone use.
• Travel between locations or to external stakeholders (i.e., funders, employers) may be required.
• A valid Ontario Driver’s License (Class G) and access to a reliable vehicle and insurance is an asset.
• 37.5-hour workweek administered as 150 hours over 4 weeks
• You will be required to perform unannounced check-ins on all types of shifts at least once a month (days, evenings, weekends and overnight)
• Position requires flexible work hours on days, evenings, weekends and overnight.
• Expectation to work in Inclusive Living locations at least 80% of time.

SENSORYamp; PHYSICAL EFFORT

• Moderate demand for focused concentration (i.e., scheduling, budget reconciliation, uploading receipts, data entry).
• Moderate physical demands where no other resources are available (e.g., grocery shopping for program, filling in for front-line staff in emergency situations).

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:Program Operations

• Works closely with the Inclusive Living Manager to develop and implement program standards that address the psychosocial, cultural, physical and safety needs of individuals served.
• Aids in developing and monitoring the implementation of all individuals’ behaviour development, individualized Support plans, daily supports guides, and maintaining accurate documentation.
• Ensures the program meets all licensing and compliance standards and other regulations as required.
• Assists with the development and implementation of services/supports that will meet the individual needs of each person served.
• Provides direct support to front-line staff (i.e., direct support professionals, PSWs); ensures all reasonable precautions are in place for the safety of staff and the individuals served.
• Supports programming, oversight of medical care, skill development, behavioural interventions and overall care and services for people receiving supports and services.
• Works collaboratively with community partners, external service providers, and develops community networks.
• Collects and analyzes data, pulls and interprets monthly reports.
• Performs call duty and is available for consultation and response in an emergency.
• Reviews and evaluates all relevant documentation in relation to assigned programs and ensures compliance with Association policies and procedures and legislated requirements.
• Recognizes and acts on opportunities to create partnerships and lasting relationships with service providers, community partners, and/or employers.
• Committee/project work.

Financial Management

• Manages budget expenditures of all assigned cost centers to ensure effective use of resources including but not limited to reviewing and approving timesheets, mileage claims, expense forms, petty cash disbursements, incoming cash, invoices, and purchase orders for each program supervised.
• Works with Team Leaders to identify and budget for needs within the home.
• Monitors petty cash expenditures, completes petty cash reconciliation monthly, and submits to accounting for approval.
• Oversees individuals’ resident finances to ensure that accurate records are maintained, and policy and procedures are followed.

Staffing, Training, and Development

• Manages full cycle of recruitment and selection process including proactively identifying recruitment needs for direct support staff working within areas of responsibility; initiates preparation of job posting, interviews, and recommends best candidate to Human Resources (HR) for reference checking.
• Assists in Onboarding and Training of new staff.
• Supervises, monitors, and evaluates ongoing performance of all direct reports; identifies staff performance issues promptly and utilizes all resources to address them.
• Works diligently to create strong team-based cultures within staffing groups by establishing team norms, goal planning, regularly planned meetings, effective communication strategies and utilizing conflict resolution skills as required.
• Ensures quality of care being provided by direct support staff through monitoring, coaching and mentoring.
• Works to identify the training and learning needs of the direct reports working within the programs supervised.
• Ensures staff attend all mandatory training programs and courses, as required by the Association.
• Performance Management or staff under your supervision
• Provides feedback, guidance, and functional advice to front-line staff concerning their performance via 1:1 monthly meetings and through annual performance appraisals.
• Brings issues or concerns with respect to service quality, safety, staff education, training, and performance to the attention of the Program Manager.
• Initiates progressive disciplinary action, in collaboration with the Inclusive Living Manager and Human Resources.
• Resolving internal conflicts between staff, engaging in collaborative problem-solving approaches with individuals and facilitating solutions for day-to-day issues.

Program Administration

• In collaboration with the scheduling department, ensures appropriate schedules for each location supervised, ensuring appropriate staffing ratios based on support needs.
• Engages in collaborative problem-solving approaches with individuals, staff, families, colleagues and Inclusive Living Manager to share information, address issues, and problem solve to seek solutions for day-to-day issues.
• Informs Inclusive Living Manager of important matters, contentious issues, and serious occurrences as they arise; escalates concerns that may affect the Association’s reputation.
• Fills in for direct care staff in the homes when short staffed; assists with individual bathing, dressing, toileting, and adaptive equipment in emergency situations when short staffed.
• Coordinates, chairs and participates in various meetings and/or committees (e.g., job evaluation, audit) as related to staff, individuals supported, families, employee, professional development goals or other program needs.
• Establishes good working relationships with families, employers, community partners and other professionals while advocating for the best possible support.
• Ensures all documentation is up-to-date and meets Ministry standards for compliance and audits (i.e., policies and procedures, health and safety).
• Maintains working knowledge of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and grievance procedures; escalates matters as needed.

Key Relationships

• Families: Acts as liaison regarding matters relating to any changes in individual services such as medical support or housing; assists families in understanding and navigating through changes.
• Government/Funders: Assisting the Inclusive Living Manager to communicate with funders and the Licensors as outlined in funding agreements and contracts.
• Community Partners: Facilitates development of networks of support for information sharing and to improve accessibility and availability of services.
• Individuals: Responds to escalations concerning individuals supported and/or their families from direct support staff.
