Job Description

The CFO ensures strong relationships with the community, funders, partners, staff, and volunteers and works to enhance the physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being of clients. The Pod Group is partnering with this organization to place a highly passionate and driven leader to fulfill the role of the CFO. The CFO provides organizational financial management to elevate the finance and accounting systems of the organization.PRIORITIES

  • Ensure the effective, efficient operation related to the financial and IT management of the organization within the general policies and guidelines of the organization.
  • Provide oversight and leadership to the CEO and all senior management related to financial and IT matters.
  • Ensure that the properties occupied by the organization are maintained.
  • Provide support to the Finance and Property Committee.
  • Manage and oversee a team of employees in the Finance department and the IT department.
  • Provide staff orientation, regular supervision and ongoing training and development.
  • Implement and communicate organizational plans, policies, procedures, and decisions of the Board of Directors and the Leadership Team in accordance with the collective agreement where applicable.
  • Develop, implement, maintain and evaluate financial policies, systems and procedures for the organization.
  • Prepare budget and financial forecasts, and program and budget recommendation plans, in consultation with the CEO leadership team.
  • Responsible for cash flow, investments, and the relationship with banking and investment institutions.
  • Maintain the organization’s system of accounts and keep records on all organization transactions and assets.
  • Control purchasing and expenses and monitor approved budget to meet program and financial goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
RequirementsTALENTSamp; EXPERTISE
  • University-level bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of study or demonstrated equivalent.
  • Formal finance designation is mandatory (CPA-CA, CPA-CGA).
  • Minimum of 5 years experience at senior management or leadership level in administration and financial management in the not-for-profit or public sector.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in accounting, budgeting, financial planning and analysis.
  • Experience in Board relations and reporting.
  • Experience in financial reporting for and interaction with Government Funders.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and interpersonal skills with the ability to prioritize and make decisions.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and other communication-related technology.
  • Understanding of legislation applicable to the program.
  • Experience in preparing funding proposals and a track record in sourcing new funding streams.
  • Comfortable in making presentations to groups of all sizes.
  • Commitment to fostering a work and service delivery environment that is inclusive and reflective of the diversity in the community.
