Job Description

GFL ENVIRONMENTALLocation: Hanna, AlbertaPosition: Heavy Equipment OperatorGFL Environmental is currently seeking a self-directed and personable Heavy Equipment Operator. The HEO will report to the Site Supervisor and will be responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the organic facility and safe operation of equipment.Job duties:

  • Operates heavy equipment such as excavator, skid steer, loader, screener
  • Verifies the equipment is in working order through daily pre and post inspections
  • Performs daily maintenance and cleaning activities on equipment
  • Actively participates in refuse pick up on site
  • Other duties that may arise as assigned by the Supervisor or members of the Management Team
  • Actively take part in safety meetings and safety culture
Requirements:
  • 2+ years of Operating experience with Heavy Duty Equipment (skid steer, excavator, wheel loader, etc.)
  • Work experience in the waste recycling or environmental services industry is an asset, however not required
  • Strong communicationamp; interpersonal skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks are required in this role
  • Being mechanically inclined with strong hand/eye co-ordination are assets
  • Customer service focused and supportive of co-workers
  • Self-starter with strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Safety conscious
  • Class 3 - asset
