Based on project requests, the R&D and Technical Affairs Manager prompts the launch of new products, the improvement of existing products, and process optimization. The R&D and Technical Affairs Manager is also constantly monitoring the market for opportunities to develop innovations. The R&D and Technical Affairs Manager provides leadership to and supervises multidisciplinary project teams and makes sure that project deadlines are met.This is a temporary position that is expected to last 18 – 24 months.Job type TemporaireStarting dateApplications will be accepted until 5:00PM on October 14, 2022, or until the position is filled.Responsabilities
  • Organizes and supervises multidisciplinary project teams and ensures that deadlines are met. Takes care of reporting, to stakeholders, for projects he/she coordinates during project reviews and project approval committees.
  • Coordinates projects in partnership with external collaborators (universities, partners, centres for technology transfer).
  • Develops the formulation and provides leadership for new product projects.
  • Supervises laboratory tests and coordinates production tests in our plants or with our co-packers.
  • Implements best practices as far as product development is concerned.
  • Solves product development problems and acts as an internal expert for stakeholders.
  • Ensures good communication with external stakeholders (clients, suppliers, research centres, etc.) in relation to project management, search of new ingredients and concepts, etc.
  • Writes technical reports, quality documentation and other relevant documents.
  • Ensures that the product launch meets the specifications.
  • Constantly monitors the market.
Required qualificationsBachelor’s degree in food science and technology, food engineering, microbiology, or other relevant fields.
  • 7 – 10 years of relevant experience in product development in the food processing industry, ideally experience in meat products.
  • People and team management, effective project management and coordination.
  • Experience in product development, project management with gate process.
  • Experience in further processing of poultry is considered an asset.
  • In-depth knowledge of CFIA processes, ingredients, legislation, and standards (labelling, recipe formulation, etc.).
  • Knowledge of research and development grant and tax credit programs.
  • In-depth knowledge of best practices in food product development.
  • Interest in nutrition and culinary arts.
  • Priority management.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of the MS Office suite
