The Clinical Field Specialist provides leadership and expertise to effectively support and advance evidence-based best practice within a seniors environment; facilitating the creation of a collaborative practice environment through leadership, role modelling and coordination of practice activities; identifying the learning needs of nursing staff related to nursing practice issues and collaborating to design overall learning strategies and interventions; advising on and providing leadership to initiatives related to nursing practice, including inter-professional collaboration and communication, education and research quality improvement, professional standards and regulatory requirement; and encouraging the professional development of nursing staff members to maintain and enhance their professional growth.*Please note this position is a 4day/week role, preferred location of candidate would be in the Vancouver, Okanagan or Vancouver Island regions. Key Responsibilities

  • Applies the organization’s mission, vision, and values and resident’s rights.
  • Supports clinical in the homes with the implementation of improvements or changes in practice.
  • Supports the homes to enforce and support policies and procedures, regulations and standards.
  • Promotes a holistic approach to ensure that factors impacting resident care are addressed.
  • Supports research-based practice.
  • Familiar with legislation (BC and Alberta).
  • Provide clinical support to clinical teams in home (follow up, clinical oversight, education for new team members).
  • Provide remote and hands on clinical support (day to day operations, nurse PCC orientation).
  • Assist in providing education sessions as needed (PCC, policy updates, and any other clinical updates).
  • Support to ensure clinical policies and procedures are followed.
  • Support nursing team in ensuring appropriate follow through is completed.
  • Support clinical with the implementation of improvements or changes in practice.
  • Supports the home to enforce and support policies and procedures, regulations and standards.
  • Supports the home to promote a holistic approach to ensure that factors impacting resident care are addressed.
  • Supports research-based practice.
  • Provides leadership, support, guidance and mentorship to the nursing clinical team in the homes.
  • Works collaboratively with all members of the care team and other processional and support services.
  • Works in collaboration with the MDS coordinator to ensure all clinical processes are followed.
  • Supports home in absence of Clinical leadership
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Long Term Care, experience with MDS an asset
  • Currently registered and a member in good standing with the provincial nursing college
  • Previous experience in long-term care preferred including demonstrated commitment to working with seniors
  • Strong analytical and assessment skills
  • Ability to travel to sites
  • Ability to lead training and education with adult learners
  • Experience with SURGE Learning is an asset
  • Knowledge of: InterRAI suite of tools, MDS/RUG III patient classification systems
  • Working Knowledge of: Project Management Principles, Industry Knowledge, Principles of Adult Education, Facilitation, Problem Solving, Continuous Quality Improvement Principles, Data Analysis, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively
  • Valid driver’s license and travel will be required
