Job Description

Clément Homes is seeking a Construction Budgetingamp; Estimation Specialist with deep expertise in construction budgeting and project estimation to support our growing portfolio of residential projects. This role involves creating and refining detailed budgets for new developments, monitoring Cost To Come (CTC) throughout the project lifecycle, and ensuring that project budgets align with current market conditions. The ideal candidate will bring comprehensive knowledge of construction costs, materials, and industry practices across various building types, including single-family homes, townhouses, condos, and apartment buildings.Responsibilities:Project Budget Creation:

  • Work closely with project managers to develop accurate, detailed budgets for new projects, drawing from both historical data and up-to-date market prices for labor, materials, and services.
  • Conduct in-depth research to gather pricing information specific to each project’s location, scale, and design requirements.
  • Prepare budgets for different types of residential builds, such as single-family homes, townhouses, stacked houses, condos, and apartment complexes.
Budget Trackingamp; Monitoring:
  • Oversee the Estimate at Completion (EAC) for each project, updating it as needed to reflect real-time expenses and changes in project scope.
  • Identify potential variances in the budget early on and collaborate with project managers to address any discrepancies promptly.
  • Provide actionable insights on budgeting to ensure project alignment with initial financial goals.
Support for Procurementamp; Contract Preparation:
  • Assist procurement teams by reviewing material and service requirements, ensuring they fall within approved project budgets.
  • Contribute to purchase order and contract preparation, ensuring alignment with project budgets.
  • Track changes in vendor pricing and identify opportunities for cost-effective purchasing.
  • Document budget modifications, maintaining detailed records to support continuous improvement in budgeting practices.
Collaborationamp; Knowledge Sharing:
  • Provide guidance to project managers on budgeting best practices, fostering an accurate and proactive approach to budget planning.
  • Work closely with the management team to anticipate budgeting needs and adjust as per the management plans.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in budgeting, estimation, or project management in the construction industry.
  • Strong familiarity with Ontario construction costs and market trends for labor, materials, and services.
  • Proficiency in project management and budgeting software.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication abilities to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • French language skills are an asset.
