Job Description

Closing Date: October 31, 2022Come join a tight knit team of professionals who are passionate about finding environmental solutions at one of Canadas most unique mine sites in active closure!Reporting to the Senior Environment Coordinator, the Environment Coordinator is responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance with Provincial and Federal legislation, including the planning and execution of site water management and waste management. In addition, this person will support reclamation and remediation planning and execution. This person will also be working closely with Indigenous groups, and other communities of interest.To be successful, we are looking for someone with excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. This person can collaborate with others and build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This person can plan and coordinate activities, as well as influence employees at all levels to improve environmental compliance. Working a compressed work week with alternating Fridays off, come experience what work life balance is all about!Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Lead water management projects and daily planning to maintain compliance with laws and approvals; work with operations and maintenance teams to support field execution
  • Assist in reclamation monitoring and water management planning
  • Lead waste management at site
  • Develop and execute on short-term and long-term reclamation strategy specific to wildlife, vegetation, and soils management
  • Support Teck’s sustainability initiatives
  • Provide contractor management and supervision to external consultant and contract teams
  • Prepare professional reports, applications, and submissions for internal and government audiences
  • Coordinate positive relationships with Indigenous groups and other communities of interest, ensuring we fulfill our commitments
Qualifications:
  • Degree or Diploma in Environmental Science or Engineering, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum one year experience in water quality, wildlife, soils, vegetation, contaminated site remediation and reclamation, including data analysis, interpretation, and reporting
  • Experience with environmental data management software (GIS/EQuIS) and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite®
  • Knowledge of relevant federal and provincial environmental laws and policies is an asset
