Job Description

The Lodge Manager will oversee all aspects of the operation. Facility Management duties include but are not limited to, Health and Wellness, Hospitality Services, Food & Beverage services, Human Resources Management, Quality Assurance, Safety and Security and Financial Management.This position entails a high level of interaction with residents and employees. With the exciting expansion of the Pine Valley Lodge, capacity will increase to 101 units, allowing us to accommodate our seniors now and in the future.The Evergreens Foundation offers a comprehensive compensation package including benefits, pension and training opportunities in a comfortable, workplace environment.Core Competencies: Facility Management

  • Ensure positive working relationships are in place with contract service providers such as Home Care, etc.
Hospitality Services
  • Ensure a clean, safe, pleasant, harmonious, respectful & comfortable environment is provided for residents, staff, contracted service providers, volunteers, and visitors
  • Ensure adherence to government accommodation standards for Housekeeping Services
  • Ensure quality in hospitality services
  • Ensure hospitality services meet resident satisfaction
  • Ensure the proper cleaning, hygiene and disease-control procedures are followed
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations or CAO
Supervision of Kitchen
  • Ensure Kitchen staff are trained and qualified to perform the required duties
  • Ensure a regular kitchen inventory is maintained
  • Ensure adherence to government accommodation standards for Food Services
  • Ensure the proper cleaning, hygiene and disease-control procedures are followed
  • Ensure all required food establishment permits and licenses are in place
  • Ensure menus include special diet provisions
  • Complete year-end food inventory
  • Work with the regional chef to manage kitchen operations and maintain a consistent high quality of food and beverage
  • As required, assist the Regional Chef with the menu creation process
  • Meet with the Regional Chef monthly and provide feedback
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations or CAO
Human Resources/Payroll Management and Administration
  • Ensure 24-7 coverage by trained and qualified staff
  • Maintain a strong lodge team through positive & cooperative atmosphere
  • Recruit non-management staff and participate in interview and selection process
  • Check and submit timesheets
  • Evaluate staff using performance evaluations
  • Provide leadership required to hire, train, supervise and ensure continuous improvement for staff
  • Implement Human Resource Strategy
  • Conduct staff and contracted service provider orientation and supervise direct, and support staff
  • Ensure all staff training requirements are met
  • Motivate staff to achieve lodge and organizational goals and celebrate successes
  • Participates in Alberta Managers Society or other societies recommended by Head Office
  • Meet with CAO &/or Director of Operations for reporting purposes
  • Support, and assist all Lodge Administrators within the Foundation
  • Train Resident Coordinator for back up of Lodge Administrators basic duties
Quality Assurance
  • Ensure compliance to organizational, lodge, and positional areas of accountability, policies, processes, & procedures, within Government and Foundation Standards
  • Monitor resident personal choice services
  • Monitor Lodge schedule for daily activities and hospitality services conducive to a seniors’ environment and levels of ability
  • Attend training courses and conventions as available to enhance education and personal growth
Safety and Security
  • Ensure that residents are accounted for on a daily basis
  • Ensure adherence to operational and health and safety policies
  • Ensure building and personal response security systems are in proper working condition
  • Monitor Foundation’s Emergency Preparedness Plan in cooperation with Client Services Manager
Financial Management
  • Assist Director of Operations/Asset Manager with annual budgeting process and ensure its adherence
  • Ensure financial control procedures and policies are followed
  • Process expense and petty cash reports
  • Forward all expense documentation to the Finance Manager weekly
Reporting
  • Implement standardized management body processes & templates for Lodge reporting
  • Collaborate with CAO, Director of Operations, Asset Manager, Human Resources Manager and Finance Manager as needed
  • Provide reports as requested

Job Requirements
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and management skills
  • Demonstrates strong administrative, interpersonal, organizational and planning skills
  • Demonstrates compassion, empathy and concern for each resident and staff
  • Has strong computer skills
  • Experience working in a unionized environment will be highly valued
  • Experience in seniors housing, healthcare and/or the hospitality industry would be an asset
