Job Description

Duties will commence immediately.Location: Hinton/Jasper Zonessupporting the following schools:Crescent Valley School, École Mountain View School, Harry Collinge High School, Jasper Elementary School, Jasper Junior Senior High School.Start Date: Duties to commence immediately until October 2024 or upon return of the incumbent, whichever happens sooner.Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE)The competition will remain open until: October 28, 2022MHCB/BEST Success Coach Job Summary and Core CompetenciesThe MHCB Success Coach reports to the MHCB Program Manager and provides mental health promotion to students and their families through universal programming across GYPSD. Developing and delivering developmentally appropriate evidence based programming that meets the objectives of the MHCB initiative is the main work of the Success Coach. Delivery of programming involves large and small group work in schools, community setting, and focuses on increasing knowledge, building skills and fostering abilities that enable others to better their own mental health and wellness.Qualification and Work ExperienceThe ideal candidate will have:

  • A related post-secondary degree or diploma in social sciences is preferred, or relevant courses and experience
  • Experience in addiction and mental health or health/human services related role preferred (experience as a practicum student considered)
  • Experience with delivering programming and comfortable with public speaking
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Takes initiative and is able to work independently as well as in teams
  • Solid comprehension and practice of personal and professional boundaries
  • Able to advocate for and enable others
  • Creative problem‐solving and decision‐making skills
  • Comfortable liaising with community members, school staff, community agencies and health care providers
  • Knowledge of the local community and resources available
  • Capable of maintaining program statistics for purposes of evaluation and assisting in evaluating the effectiveness of programs
  • All employees must provide a criminal record check
  • Will be required to show an original copy of a valid practice permit before commencing their duties
  • Practice permits cannot interfere with MHCB work. MHCB is a prevention and promotion initiative, therefore the role will not meet certain requirements for licensing related to teaching certification or clinical social work or registered psychologist hours.
  • Ability to work evening/weekend and summer hours
