Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic person who likes to meet people in animal husbandry, listen to them and help them problem solve issues related to their farm operations.The Opportunity: Sales Manager- Independent, SK- Full TimeAs a Sales Manager you will be reporting to the General Manager – western Canada. You will be responsible for annual sales targets which will include new growth in your territory and your direct reports sales territories, managing sales efforts, within the designated region, including activities of sales representatives, customer relations and related financial performance. To succeed in this role you will have thorough knowledge and understanding of feed sales programs.Principal Accountabilities for the Role of Sales Manager:

  • Serve as leader and coach for assigned sales personnel, assisting, and monitoring their sales efforts.
  • Provide strategic and tactical leadership to achieve desired results. Ensure the sales personnel are highly motivated.
  • Develop sales goals and objectives for the unit, assisting in the annual budget planning process and regularly monitor expenditures.
  • Promote the long-term growth of personnel, encouraging personal and professional development programs as appropriate. Ensure the continual development of skills for assigned staff.
  • Manage and administer the Sales Compensation Program for sales personnel, establishing individual plans that effectively balance the marketing plans, objectives, strategies, and budgets for the individual employee. Monitor results and submit on a timely basis any required changes.
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager(s) in administering pricing and margin information. Ensure an understanding of the marketplace, administrative process, and acceptable returns.
  • Work with Producers to increase sales and growth opportunities.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction. Assist personnel in identifying means of improvement when service is not meeting customer expectations. Actively promote quality and quality systems compliance. Participate on the Quality Teams for established locations.
  • Be responsible for continuing to service and maintain brand loyalty with existing customers.
  • Actively participate in the Feed Industry to include trade show, seminars, knowing the markets, being familiar with competitors, etc.
  • Present new and innovated products.
  • Must be flexible with travel and scheduling while managing accounts and working independently.
  • An automobile, valid license and insurance is required for this position.

  • This position involves a high volume of time visiting customers on farm and the role requires schedule flexibility, including availability some nights and weekends.
  • You know, or have the motivation to learn about nutrition, animal health and development, and barn health as it relates to production results.
  • You are motivated by exceeding producer benchmarks, herd health standards, and expected profitability to build loyalty and trust with your customers.
  • You are a natural problem-solver and decision-maker.
  • You are a good negotiator, communicator, and even better listener.
  • You are well spoken and respectful of producer time and on farm practices.
  • You are confident in identifying opportunities and prospects.
  • You enjoy building relationships, have passion for agriculture, and enjoy a chat about the weather. (…and you know how to have some fun along the way!)
  • You have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
