Job Description

Purpose: The Yard Attendant is responsible for maintaining the dealership yard, grounds, and equipment in a neat and orderly manner to ensure safety for all staff and customers. The role involves ensuring the cleanliness and positive appearance of the dealership and its yard while participating in various tasks related to equipment handling and organization.Key Responsibility Areas:

  • Ensure the cleanliness and tidy appearance of the dealership and its yard.
  • Maintain and upkeep the facility, equipment, vehicles, and tools related to the yard.
  • Load and unload machinery and full-sized agricultural equipment.
  • Participate in the organization of in and out functions associated with moving equipment efficiently.
  • Transfer equipment between stores.
  • Perform light delivery work.
  • Complete all reports and forms required in conjunction with assignments.
  • Account for all time and material used in performing assigned duties.
  • Perform duties as required and directed by your supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean work area and perform work in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations associated with facilities and equipment.
  • Ensure all safety regulations are followed by self and others.
  • Build and maintain constructive co-worker relations and effective team dynamics.
  • Participate in training programs for the development of skills and knowledge.
Critical Capabilities:
  • Ability to operate/use equipment (commercial pressure washer, battery charger, compressor, power pumps, miscellaneous hand tools).
  • Ability to operate lifts (forklift/other) and heavy-duty equipment (large ag equipment).
  • Ability to perform multiple duties as assigned and prioritize effectively.
  • The position is physically demanding; incumbent must have sufficient physical strength and agility; able to climb in and out of equipment regularly; ability to move or lift upwards to 50lbs.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, varying shifts, weekends, and holidays if necessary.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education and experience.
  • WHMIS/Forklift/Power Mobile Equipment certification would be a definite asset.
  • Ability to learn yard keeping practices and procedures applicable to operations.
  • General machinery knowledge is an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of equipment safety procedures is required.
  • Class 1A license is preferred.
