Job Description

Job descriptionHoliday Inn Express & Suites Huntsville-Muskoka is looking for a Maintenance Person to join our award winning team! The Maintenance Person reports directly to the General Manager to monitor and maintain the hotels facilities and equipment. Emphasis for this role is on ensuring safety and comfort of guests, preserving the brand image, ensuring maximum life of facilities and equipment, achievement of budget objectives, and adhering to brand standard requirements.Duties and Responsibilities: Essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Performs basic repairs to building including but not limited to: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, furniture, guest rooms, etc.
  • Maintains the departmental budget, in keeping with the hotel business plan
  • Completion/Follow-up on all maintenance requests – Tracking completed requests accordingly
  • Ensure that the parking lot is free of debris (weather related issues) and the garbage’s are emptied
  • Monitor/maintain pool (Chemicals, temperatures/humidity, water levels, lighting, and cleanliness)
  • Special projects as assigned
  • Works in accordance to IHG Way of Preventative Maintenance program
  • Regular preventative maintenance and upgrades as necessary to all technical services and components of the building to provide proactive solutions to issues that arise
  • Daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual inspections of building components which include: interior/exterior finishes, electrical/mechanical systems, energy efficiencies, HVAC systems, fire alarm/safety systems, custodial operations, grounds keeping, parking maintenance, swimming pool, and fitness equipment
Qualifications / Requirements:
  • Familiarity with plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and overall general maintenance
  • Superb time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills in English both written and oral
  • Strong ability to prioritize effectively and multi task
  • Able to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 50 pounds
  • Available for all shifts including weekends
  • You must be legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Other duties as assigned
