Job Description

Though our office is located in Huntsville, we are looking for PSWs in Etobicoke and Mississauga.Everyone who works for us must have a passion for caregiving. We want to see all of our clients and staff flourish, providing each person with opportunities to live happy and fulfilled lives.Are you a college educated personal support worker or nurse Do you have a passion for your profession Are you interested in a career with a business offering ongoing education and the possibility for consideration for promotions as our small business grows Are you interested in receiving staff incentives for high quality of care, perfect attendance, and company loyalty If so, consider applying for a position with us.JOB SUMMARYThe personal support worker (PSW), under the direction of the immediate supervisor, provides personal care services to clients and assists clients with activities of daily living, as described in the care plan and within their scope of practice and in accord with all internal and external standards of practice.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide personal care to clients as required according to the care plan.Ensure the comfort and safety of clients is met to the greatest possible extent.Provide personal care that is within the provincial scope of practice for a PSW.Provide specialized, client specific care to clients when training and competency can be demonstrated.Observe and document client conditions, report unusual events or changes in a client’s condition to the immediate supervisor.Understand and implement infection control practices.Participate in ongoing educational activities and in-services.Adhere to Chickadee Home Care policies and procedures.Participate in proactive health and safety activities at all times. Notify supervisor of any health and safety risks or concerns.Complete other tasks as required.Compassionate, responsible, professional, and reliable,REPORTING RELATIONSHIPSThe PSW reports to a supervisor as designated by the director.QUALIFICATIONS:Graduation from an accredited Personal Support Worker program. The PSW must have a solid grasp of their scope of practice and the delivery of personal care service to clients.At least one year of recent personal care experience in a similar position or life experience in which similar duties were completed.Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.Ability to stand, bend, squat, kneels and reach freely.To be able to lift 50 pounds, the ability to assist clients with standing, walking, sitting and rolling in bed.Demonstrated ability to follow spoken and written instructions as related to client care.Ability to travel locally from assignment to assignment.Clear vulnerable sector criminal record checkReliable transportationSTANDARDS OF PERFORMANCEThe personal support worker must demonstrate ongoing capacity in completing all duties and responsibilities as detailed in the job description as well as agreed upon specific goals and objectives.PERFORMANCE REVIEWPerformance will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, with a formal review at the end of the 3 months probationary period and subsequently on an annual basis. Input will be sought from the employee, supervisor and also based on ongoing client feedback and the extent to which performance meets expectations.
