2022/23 Winter SEASON and/or BeyondOrganization: VOYAGEUR QUEST Algonquin Park Wilderness Adventure Company and OutfitterPosition: Property Maintenance Worker and Cottage Check-insFull time, Part-time or Seasonal Contract Location: Algonquin Park (Access pt #1, Algonquin Park, East of South River, Ontario with on-site accommodations)Voyageur Quest is a wilderness tour company that specializes in Algonquin Park. Our facilities – the Algonquin Log Cabin, the Algonquin Cottages and Outpost, Islands, and Voyageur Outfitter are all located at Algonquin Park’s northwest corner at Access Pt #1. Our head office, reservations, and logistics are centered in our Toronto office.As Property and Maintenance Crew you will require the ability to provide:

  • ongoing maintenance, repairs, and new project build for:
  • Building Exteriors: docks, decks, storage sheds, wood sheds, roofs, steps, outdoor furniture...
  • Building Interiors - ability to mount curtain rods, blinds, hooks, paint, possible drywall repairs, fix sliding doors and screens, hang doors, doorknobs, lay flooring
  • Landscaping: clearing, chainsaw work, planting, driveveway repair etc.
  • Propane Appliances: some experience with propane appliances fridges, heaters, etc and have the ability to call suppliers to set up appointments or order parts, etc
  • The ability to drive trailers is an asset - shuttles, pick up materials, and dump runs.
  • Systems: understanding and working with property systems and ensuring their optimal performance including but not limited to: water, heating, and solar systems, managing tools, generators, and so on.
  • Canoes: experience with boat repair an asset
  • ability to work on small-medium sized projects and repairs
  • Seasonal: shut down and open up procedures
  • Assist with snow removal and clearing
  • ability to brief suppliers who may be called in to tackle larger projects
  • to have the “eyes of ownership” in observing the properties and buildings, notice issues that require attention, bring forth and execute solutions.
As Cottage check in crew you will:
  • heat the cottages prior to guest arrival
  • ensure supply of firewood and propane for the bbqs.
  • meet and greet guests and show them the ins and outs of their cottage rentals ie how the oven/stove works, how to handle off the grid living and conserve solar energy, suggest hikes in the area....
  • be available for small repairs shold something arise
  • light wood burning saunas for the guests
  • ensure supplies available
Applicants should have the following:
  • Previous and demonstrated work experience in areas that require the above skills sets
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Initiative to report what is needs to be tackled and to follow through with repairs
  • Ability to independently follow daily task lists effectively
  • Effective time management
  • Ability to professionally interact with customers to ensure positive customer experience
  • Ability to lift and load canoes
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • G driver license
  • A love for the outdoors
Contract Available: Compensation: approx $18-25 per hour commensurate with experience.
