Job Description

The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) will practice in accordance with legislation and the standards as determined by their regulatory body and the practice setting. The RPN/RN will have the knowledge to assess, select, implement and evaluate a wide range of nursing interventions to ensure consistent safe, competent and ethical care. Client groups receiving care may include Pediatrics or Adults with complex medical/health concerns. Care will take place within the community within a residential or institutional setting with referrals generated by a variety of sources including government agencies, employers, insurance companies or private payees.Locations: Bracebridge & Gravenhurst OR HuntsvilleFull time or Part Time AvailableParaMed is pleased to partner with Health Force Ontario to participate in the Community Commitment Program for Nurses (CCPN). This program provides a $10,000 incentive to eligible nurses in exchange for a 12-month, full-time commitment to an eligible employer. This program is geared towards nurses that have not worked as a nurse within the six (6) months prior to being hired. Retired nurses, new graduates, or nurses looking to return to the nursing field are eligible for this program permitted that they maintain Registration in good standing from the CNO. Candidates must commence employment no later than November 15, 2021 to be eligible for this incentive.The Tuition Support Program for Nurses (TSPN) offers tuition reimbursement to recent nursing graduates from rural and remote communities who are new College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) registrants and who choose to do a return-of-service (ROS) in an eligible underserviced community. The program is open to nurse practitioner, registered nurse and registered practical nurse graduates who apply within one year of having graduated from a Canadian University or College.QualificationsRegistration/licensing with provincial regulatory college, in good standingA minimum of 2 years’ experience as a practicing RPN/RN is preferredWorking knowledge of applicable legislation including Mental Health Act, Substitute Decisions Act, Healthcare Consent Act, Privacy / Personal Health Information Act and othersSuperior oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with clients and families to ensure that barriers to communication do not impact the clients ability to direct their own care processEffective problem solving skillsCurrent certification (within the past 12 mos) of First Aid, CPR, completed within CanadaAbility to be available for after hours and on call on a rotational basis, 1-2 days per week from 1630 - 0830ResponsibilitiesObtains informed consent prior to and throughout service provisionWorking collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team consisting of government agencies, healthcare workers, and other community resourcesProvides safe, competent, compassionate and ethical nursing care to ensure the personal safety of clientsUses appropriate assessment tools and techniques in consultation with clients and the health care team to assess clients regarding physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, cognitive, developmental, environmental and social needsEngages client using a collaborative approach, building rapport and trust, achieving a mutual understanding and agreement to identify actual and potential client health care needs, strengths, capacities and goals.Establishes and maintains appropriate professional boundaries with clients and the health care team, including the distinction between social interaction and therapeutic relationshipsParticipates in necessary care conferences with Health Care teamMaintains the knowledge, skills and attitudes to provide safe, efficient, effective care in all areas of practice by keeping abreast of changes in practice setting that affect scope of practiceMaintains professional client records related to client encounters and plans in compliance with ParaMed’s policies and the standards applied by their regulatory body.Shows respect for cultural needs, dignity, privacy and confidentiality of clientsDischarges client when goals have been achievedApplication InstructionsTo apply for this position, please click the "Apply Now" button to attach an updated resume.
